Im new to this forum and also new to driving rams. I have a 2014 hemi 5.7 1500 crew cab 2WD. I'm looking into airbags for the rear to keep from squatting when towing heavier loads. Anyone have recommendations on brands or other options other than bags?

AirLift and TimberGrove both make air bags that are well liked by many members. The addition of a WirelessOne compressor makes inflation easy.
Remember that air bags are not a replacement for a WDH, this video does a great job of demonstrating the difference between what each does: https://youtu.be/XBZu39pQ8Gg

You can use both, the airbags just help stiffen the rear end up.

I had Airlift bags on my ‘19 1500. They had a 100 lb max inflation but I never needed more that 30-40 lbs even with heavy loads. Pretty easy to install

Truck squats because the springs are designed to give a car like ride and are not very stiff.
Go buy a set of tufftruck varrable rate springs, if yo want to keep that OEM ride. They will essentially give you 50% more payload ability.
IOf yo do not care to keep that smooth as silk ride, then get teh constant rate spings, 1211 I think, and truck hardly budge unless its serious tongue weight.

Search forum for tufftruck and see all the love folks have for those springs.

Adding airbags essentially removes the springs from teh process, so to Timbrens or bump stops.
Basically, by taking away the springs, you have really stiffened your ride, which is not good when heavily loaded, though a 1.2 ton shoudl never be in that heavily loaded a situation ti si still not good for truck or towed vehicle. With bags or bump stops, springs no longer absorb the weight and provide cushion. so the occurances that the springs would smooth out are now directly transfered to your axle and frame. Not only does your ride suffer when air bags or bump stops are engaged, but so too does the truck.

the process is:
Upgrade springs,
upgrade tires, sidewalls specifically
Upgrade shocks
add air bags if needed.

If none of those gets the job done, you need a 3/4 ton for the job you are trying to do.

I tow a 6500lb TT to Florida and back each winter. I was getting bad squat and I had Airlift 1000 Installed for 200 dollars. Along with a WDH Readjusted the truck rides pretty level now. I did lose the cushy ride, but it’s not uncomfortable. This spring I needed new tires so I replaced with E rated. They also have taken away ride quality but I’m hopeful my towing experience will improve when I head to Florida next Month. I certainly had no financial resources to buy a new truck so this was a cost effective way to improve the experience.
