Well I learned a lesson!! I can't hook on my street tires, looking at getting some slicks and wheels in the future. My question are what's a cheap wheels to get like 17" oem what's best to look for aluminum, steel?? I've been eyeballing moes slicks but I'll have to do some saving $ pretty much I'm wasting my time on going to the track until I get some slicks and can hook. Here's a video no track prep, stock intake( vararam at decal shop) it was just a practice day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK1WehhZBfQ&sns=em

There are 17x9 wheels that weight 24.6lb a piece for $128ea available on Tire Rack. I believe it's the Ultra Gauntlets or Nomads. It's the cheapest light weight wheel I've found so far and will do well with an 11" drag radial for strip days.

Jay

Jay I did still broke loose some! Really didn't push it because it's my daily driver and that **** be hard on my front drive shaft (I'm skeert) lol. If I could use my stall converter and actually launch with traction hook then I believe I could make some dam good numbers. These trucks can be real monsters! As been proven !

Guys I'm kinda looking on what oem wheels that are light and strong in 17" something I can find on Craigslist. What about these image.jpg

Chad, those are the Durango wheels that lots of guys use. On that wheel, I wouldn't go bigger than the M&H 275/50/17's though. That is the same tire Travis is running on his crew cab, and he is cutting low 1.7 60's and high 12 second 1/4 mile times.

If you want to step up to the 325/45/17's or a set of the Hoosier 28/10/17's, then you want to go with a 9" wide wheel. I am running the SST wheels myself. They look great, and are the perfect size for the Hoosiers.

All good info! Here I think I'm going to contact this guy I belive I can get them for a bill maybe a little more. I'm wanting that ati pulley next too!
Hate to put a lot of money in the wheels, slicks consider it be just for the strip use only and that be rare that I go.

yeah, even though 18x9 or wider wheels in a 5 on 5.5 lug pattern are nearly impossible to find without them weighing 40lbs or looking ridiculous. I found some MB Chaos 5 wheels that look alright, and theyre only 24lbs a piece and about $150.

I couldnt pass up the deal on the tires

That's true. Our bolt pattern sucks.

I tell you what, 315s might bulge a good bit on 9" wide rims.

You might check Centerline wheels. You'll probably have to give them a call for weights and pricing. I ran those on a car that I had years ago and I remember it was only like $650 for all 4 17" wheels and they were ridiculously light weight since they're rotary forged aluminum.

I saw them on some 18x9 and it wasn't that much of a bulge. Ideally I'd like to get some 18x10 but those are hard to find in our bolt pattern. Considering getting wheel adapters to step it down to 5 on 4.5 to open up wheel options a little.

Centerline does make wheels for the truck in the right sizes but they're 400 bucks a piece

Yeah, plenty of 18x10 mustang rims in 5x114.3

315s is popular in the F-body world with the Nitto 555Rs came out. Alot of people ran them on the 17x9 SS and WS6 wheels.

Yup. Wheel adapters add a little weight, but not that mugh considering I'd be going from wheels where the lightest option is 24 lbs to some where they are 16 lbs and cheap.
