I’ve searched high and low and I see that you can order an upgrade kit from allmopar to get steering wheel audio controls, but my steering wheel looks like the last owner had a hook for a hand and beat the crap outta it.

I’ve seen where guys have said they just plugged in a big horn or Laramie steering wheel and it just worked and I’ve seen people that say a harness or module is needed.

I have the basic 5” radio without compass.
Has anyone got a pulled steering wheel and got the audio controls to work?

Thanks!!

The Audio controls should work with any RAM. Features like Heated steering wheel require more parts and programming though...

I just miss those two buttons on the back since going from a Laramie to a tradesman. I didn’t think it would be a big deal but I miss them.

I swapped a Laramie steering wheel into the 2015 Tradesman I used to own. It's a straight swap, no harness or module was needed for the radio control buttons.

This is what I wanted to do but if I can get a better condition steering wheel it would be a win win.
THey do sell the buttons and harness as a kit, but it can be cheaper to just swap wheels...

One more follow up question, as long as it’s 4th gen I should be good as far as 1500,2500,etc? I will try for a 2500 but I imagine 1500’s are more common.

Yes, you'll be fine. But you may need to swap your buttons over to the new wheel. The steering wheel I used for my 2015 Tradesman came off a 2015 2500 Laramie. I did have to swap the buttons from the tradesman wheel over to retain the shift limit functionality but it worked just fine.
