Trailer brake software

I just had a trailer brake installed on my 2018 Ram 1500 and the dealer ship said the component did not come with the soft ware, this has been over a month and they still say they do not have it. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can go from here, wanted to put in a factory one. I have called Customer Care but haven't been able to get anywhere with them either.

The OEM brake controller does not come with software. Once it is installed the dealer has to flash a sales code for which they charge 50-100.00 if you installed the controller. If the dealer installs the controller the flashing is included in their total price.

Unless I've misunderstood your dilemma, I'd find a better dealer.

Thanks to both of you for the information, I have been in contact with Julie at Ram Social Care Specialist and she is looking into it.

The sales code that the dealer needs to add is: XHC
After the sales code is added(and before you leave the dealer): If you have the 8.4 radio, check to see if the Trailer Brake settings are in the radio. Also if you have the multi-page EVIC, if you move the manual brake slider, the brake settings should pop up in the EVIC even if a trailer isn't connected.

Was it the factory brake controller? I just had a dealer install one and it works just as crash68 states.
