Alright buddy of mine picked up a 99 V10 automatic 4x4 over the weekend and sometimes when he's driving it'll throw the trans temp light and OD will turn off. Would this be a bad check valve or what y'all got the coolant is a lil on the over filled side so it's got fluid but maybe to much. But aside from that everything's good. Would be great to do the cheaper way rather than replacing everything.

Its pissed about some sensor readings. I dont have the service manual on this computer, but I might suspect the pressure sensor, a clogged temp sensor could also throw that. Slightly is a matter of opinion, if its not right where it should be, that should be the first thing you look at. Since removing fluid is a pain from the dipstick, you might as well drop the pan and get a good look at the inside and replace the filter and pan gasket at the same time. The 46RE and 47RE transmissions are largely open under the filter, a fluid level that's too high could easily cause problems if it were to flood up into the working parts of the transmission.

Too full is just as bad as not enough. It froths and causes damage. I recommend pulling the pan and doing the governor and sensor when you do the fluid and filter. If that doesnt do it the o/d unit is toast
