Tranny hard-shift issues

2016 2500 6.4 Crew Big Horn 4wd. Recently was passing on a 2 lane hiway and hard accelerated. Tranny downshifted (fine), then when upshifting, it revved hard before catching the gear into 4th, like it missed 4th initially. Then, it wouldn’t shift out of 4th. Not after I let off throttle. Not after I used gear selector to upshift. Not after I tried turning on/off Tow mode. Had to pull over and turn off truck. Ran fine after that. Has happened twice. Thoughts?

Have 112k miles and did trans service at 98k at dealer. And, thankfully, have Maxcare lifetime warranty

Stuck in 4th gear means the truck went into limp mode , so whatever happened caused the transmission to go into limp mode.

So now just need to figure out what’s going on with tranny. Lovely.

You're probably looking at a new solenoid pack for the trans if it shifts fine otherwise. The good news is its a pretty easy fix and you have maxcare so you should be good.
