Recently, Either engine or tranny is making a audible (almost old chevy fuel pump noise) aswell when i drop it into reverse, it makes a alarming grinding sound, When i put it into drive it makes a normal tranny servo like sound. Ill try and post the video here pretty soon. I was wondering if its normal and im just hearing things, should i bring it into chrysler, and have them look for it. They want to charge me 2 hours labor to see where the sound is comming from... The truck is still under 5/100k

It reverses no problem. Except when underload (either payload, or trailer) and i release the gas it feels like it shutters but someone told me that normal.

2013 52k miles

Hard to tell as I've never heard another cellphone vid from under a truck before, so nothing to compare too. Unless it was your fuel pump, it does sound like you have some tranny pump whine, and also some of those shifts did sound rather aggressive.

Does the truck do it every time? Warm and cold?

If you know for a fact you can recreate the issue, then I would say bring it in, and show the symptoms to the advisor. Make sure he acknowledges what he hears.

They want to charge you because covering diag for NFF on warranty can be hairy at best. On the flip side, if the tech says it needs a repair, that diag time also goes away under warranty along with the repair.

Its louder when its been sitting, for an hour or more. If i drive around its very feint but there.

I have been reading on forums and some people say its bad and some people say its bad..

From the video what do you think?

Personally I would bring it in and try to argue the diag should be covered under warranty, being that it's a concern with the trans internals

Brought it to my old work to get a pro look at it before i bring it in, and they said the pump is sounded like it is failing aswell as the grinding sound is NOT normal. They said you may be looking at a new transmission so well see what Chrysler says

I want to make sure the AFT fluid is at the right level, When i turned it on first thing in the morning it seemed to be within the cold dots, but when its warmed up it only goes up 3/4 the way between the highest cold and the lowest warm hole. According to the dip stick is says read when temperature is 180+ my tranny never gets that warm. Even when towing heavy loads up a hill the higest i have seen it is 190. Should i read the warm dots even at 150*-160* or is it prolly level?

Also what fluid does it take? ATF 4? or new chrysler ****? 2013 ram 1500 4.7 6 speed

Tranny shouldn't get to 180*. Get the truck to operating temp, idle it in neutral and check the dip stick.

I have a 2013 with about 60k miles. My transmission has making pretty much the same sound since around 20k miles (or at least that's the farthest back I can remember). I took it into the dealer this past weekend to get checked out, along with 2 recalls, and they said there is nothing wrong with it. My buddy has a 2012 that also sounds similar but runs fine.

My truck is a 6spd so I don't know if the 8spd is any different. The sound is annoying and sometimes flat out embarrassing but as long as it working I guess I cant complain.

Hope that helps put your mind at ease.

According to the dip stick it shouldn't be at the hot dots unless its over 180* maybe I miss read it. But when I warm the truck up its 3/4 or 8/10t above the cold dots and close the hot dots, but it is under the hot dots. Maybe I should add some fluid before bring it to Chrysler...

Same noise as the video? Does yours whine?

Don't overthink it. It should be in-between 'hot' dots at normal operating temp.

Took the truck in the were able to replicate the sound, and they know something is wrong with it. SO FAR my experience with the dealer ship has been AMAZING, and helpful. But i dont have the truck back yet so we will see...
