Anybody else have to get over 55 for the tranny to kick down the last time? my dad seems to think the truck is stupid for not down shifting on its own. i can't remember if its always been like that or not. just when i started tryin to be a good boy and not run the **** out of it did i notice it. doesn't matter if its cold or at running temp, i have to be over 55. could it be the superchips trans tune settings?

I'm confused. Are you saying it won't go into 5th gear until 55? Or it won't kick down into 2nd prime?

I want to say mine will go into high gear under that speed driving it like a grandpa. Try driving it like a snail and I bet it will hit it. Driving normal (moderate throttle) you should still be in third when you hit that MPH and then it shifts up basically when your coasting.

Now on the downshifting out of OD they are sluggish and will skip over gears and hit 2nd prime if your not careful.

What does this look like? I've been having an "issue?" lately where if I am running at highway speed, say 65, and then I stomp on the gas my RPMs jump up to like 5000-5500 and I'm still just kinda doing the same speed. I've also started noticing lately that when I get on the highway and get up 75mph or so, gradually increasing speed, that my RPMs hang around 3000 until I have to let off the gas and then it will finally shift and go to 2500 RPMs, and then shift again to 2000 RPMs (normal for that speed). I have no tuner or anything....is my transmission in trouble?

2nd prime is where you down shift from highway speed and basicaly matt it or have an agrresive shift schedual. The spike in RPMs but not going anywhere sounds like possible verter or trans slip kinda hard to say. They will toss a generic trans code also sometimes to let you know they are starting to fail.
