Trans clunking

2022 Ram 2500 tradesman, 6.4 hemi. When slowing down to come to a stop, Just at about 10mph , something up front clunks. As I slow down the gears indicator counts down also, until it indicates 4th gear then the clunk, and it jumps to 1st gear. By then I'am completely stopped. Some times the clunk is louder than other times. I hope to hell this isn't normal. Any thoughts or answers??

Under all conditions. eco,,manual shift,,tow haul. warm or cold. Sometimes not, but frequent.

Less frequent in tow/haul mode if there at all.

Has the limp mode come up on the dash.. if you are jump gears get a OBD@ reader asap.. If you get codes for multilabel gears .. time for a rebuild.. Check out Sonnax

I have a 2020 2500 Tradesman and it’s done the exact same thing as you are describing from the day I drove it off the lot. Dealership said it was normal , as you are slowing the trans starts downshifting and will slightly hang up at about 10 mph causing the slack in the drive line trans , transfer case and differentials to make that clunking sound. I had a 2017 1500 that did the same thing but not as loud as this truck I know this doesn’t solve your problem but wanted to let you know that your not alone with this noise. I love this truck it’s my third Ram and every one has had little quirky noises that the dealerships say is normal.

saw a thread on HDRAMS and a couple people had luck disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. Three minutes to go and we'll see what happens with mine.

Well disconnecting my negative post for 10 minutes didn't help. it's annoying af though. Guess i'll live with it for a while and see if anything else develops. It's under full warranty for 8 years. Just a lot of a stop and go driving it my town so it'll be annoying.

my 2018 5.7 1500 and now my 2021 5.7 have the slight clunk as well at times esp when cold its normal

Thanks,, but it sucks. Sounds like sooner or later, its going to rear its ugly head. Has anyone towed anything and have this get louder?

yeah I thought mine was getting a bit better but it's not. Same deal. It's pretty damn annoying. I can't imagine it's normal.

what gears do you have? I haven't figured out on any of these threads if it's just the 4.10s.

I played around a bit last night. It won't do it in tow/haul mode.

I have the 3.73 gears. Goes in the shop for it March 30th. "film at eleven" (us old folks know what that means)
