Trans swap to a 02 to an 06 Diesel Truck

Looking for a little help. I have a friend with a 2006 diesel 3500, with a 6 speed manual trans. The synchros are in real bad shape.

I came across a 2002 diesel 3500 truck wrecked, with a 6 speed trans.

Is it possible to swap the 2002 into the 2006?

Should be able to, my buddy went from his 02 auto trans to a 3rd gen manual trans

The only thing you might have to change is the bell housing. Other than that is may be a straight swap.

I don't think there are any changes to the block between 24v to common rails
If reverse is to the inside on the 06 it's a g56 trans made by Mercedes, the 02 is an nv5600

I personally think the g56 is a better trans unless your sled pulling

Bell housing is the same, for all 2nd and 3rd gens. I can put a 2nd gen cummins manu trans in my truck if i wantes to
