transfercase question

hey guys, i got a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 318 enging with the 4 speed auto
and i need a t-case
now my local junkyard has a handfull of rams 1994-2001 that -would probally work
now heres were my questions start lol

1.)will a transfer case from a 1994-1997 work with my 98? i know the shift patterns are different put ill be replacting the whole unit. (theres only 3 98-2001 dodge rams there. and a t-case is only 50$

2.)will a transfer case from a dakota or durango about the same year and engine/tranny set up work as well? becuase there is a crap load of them in there.

any info is appreciated

on the back of your t case there is a metal badge. at the top there is a stamping with your t case model. get the same, on my 02 2500 it was a 241 dld. i'm not sure what you have, but get the same and make sure your input and output shafts are the same.
