Transmission identification for parts

I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 extended cab rwd, with a 5spd manual transmission behind a 5.2L/318 Magnum V8. I lost 1st & 2nd gear, at first it wouldn't take 2nd shifting up but would take it shifting down. I know it needs synchros but I would like to have at least those before I tear it down. I'm told I have a NV3500 transmission and that there's 2 types of synchros for it. Single and multi piece. How do I find out what I need and where do I look without having to drop the tranny first? I don't have any manuals for the truck and some of the labels are missing. Any ideas?

Your truck has a 5-speed manual with overdrive?

Or is is a 4-speed auto?
