Aint it fun when they make the rules for the game that they are already cheating at?

I wish I had something a value to contribute here...what you're going through is inexcusable. I've never seen someone treated so poorly by any manufacturer. The lack of accountability on display by FCA is staggering...heads should roll for this.

I know it doesn't mean much, but I appreciate you posting your experience here. I'll keep it in mind when purchasing my next truck.

And this, is why I am looking to find a truck between 25 and 40 years old.

My wife took me to retrieve my 1997 5.9 gas farm truck. No AC and barely a dash left but the drivetrain is solid!!

Way too new. I'm looking for something mid 70's to no later than '93. Screw all this computer and wiring ****. Sick of it. I want simple.

My 77 chevy K10 truck is bullet proof mechanically and I wouldnt trade it for a plastic computer truck at all.

I was also informed that the dealer doesn’t have any loaners available so if I want a truck, I need to get a rental out of my own pocket and they will reimburse. I asked if I could get a statement in writing for them to agree to reimburse rental fees. The email I received addresses to me said “FCA will be willing to reimburse that customer for a rental.” Doesn’t sound like a promise to me.

My truck is in for it's 2nd tranny rebuild under Lifetime Maxcare warranty - dealer said sorry, no rental. Huh? It says in the Maxcare warranty contract I'm supposed to get one. He babbled something about only a certain number of days for power train stuff. I honestly think these dealers and/or FCA just flat out make stuff up. I really don't care since we have and extra vehicle I can use. I just want my truck fixed right.

Even the old 70s trucks can be further simplified with some custom wiring. but yeah, steel mechanical controls tend to wear out predictably. computers and plastic, not so much. Now the only gripe I have is their load capacity is no where near todays trucks and I definitely think their small overlap crash rating is even worse than our Rams.

You can rebuild almost an entire truck in a weekend with the old stuff, as opposed to now, where you're chasing an electrical or electronic gremlin for weeks. I really like my '18 but I'm scared to death of it. I'm still trying to figure out the issues with my '02 and getting nowhere.

The thought of going through the same ordeal as the OP is frightening.

FCA just called. Asked if I was able to drop off my truck at the dealer on Friday last week. Well yes, I did...I even left my case manager a voicemail to let him know. FCA says the dealer claims to have not seen my truck....

....turns out FCA case manager was calling the wrong dealer.

FCA called back. Dealer says they are working my truck now supposedly. FCA case manager said that he’ll call me again on Thursday per his usual 48 hour call.

Thursday update. FCA case manager said “the dealer is still trying to replicate your issue. I will call back on Monday.”

Wait a minute.....

late afternoon phone call from a FCA Regional Service Manager. We’re in resolution negotiations. I’m shocked. We had a 25 minute discussion. Should hear something back in about a week.

Update on truck: FCA called on 2/3/2020 to notify me that repairs had been authorized for my vehicle. I didn’t catch the whole list but It included a new torque converter.

update on situation: Still in resolution negotiations with FCA.

FCA called Friday 2/7 and wanted to know if I had retained legal representation. I haven’t but I have kept my lawyer aware of the situation in case he was needed. FCA told me that a work-stop order was placed on my vehicle and they need to figure out why. FCA in Michigan said they need to get in touch with the regional service manager so he can update the Michigan office.

I called the regional service manager who has been in touch for “resolution negotiations.” Per usual he was very nice, respectful, and informative. He said he would call MI and update the case log that same afternoon. He also promised all is on course for resolution.

I still don’t have my truck or a loaner. We’re moving into week #3 without a vehicle for the second transmission rebuild. The first rebuild took 40 days.

I hope my patience pays off for a favorable resolution.

Not sure if you're following my thread with the very similar situation ("failed tranny 2.0") - my first failure was at 38K - second at 93K and it just failed again 100 miles after getting back. Both my rebuilds took around 30 days and I think that's just how long it takes them to find parts and get them shipped. I'm expecting a similar amount of time again. I'm really hoping I just get a new tranny but we'll see. I'm supposed to get a loaner and haven't but really haven't pushed for one since I have another vehicle to drive. Our situations are similar except I'm in Maxcare warranty and you're still under factory warranty.

It's certainly frustrating that the dealers don't seem to be capable of fully diagnosing and rebuilding these trannys. I get it that it's a very specialized thing. Seems like they should have some ultra-trained specialists that travel around rather than relying on a tech at each dealership.

Hang in there.

For the last week I’ve been waiting for the dealer to have an open bay to get my truck in the shop. A stop work order was issued and then later lifted for truck. FCA is back to the old games of “no good will efforts” will be offered until the vehicle is deemed repaired or unrepairable. The guy who promised to be working on a resolution has since gone silent for the last 2 weeks.

As of today, my truck was pulled into the shop and the dealer has authorization to tear into it. No diagnosis or recommendation for repair has been decided since it was left there on January 24. There is confusion between FCA and the dealer on approval for a second transmission rebuild. This nightmare continues.

As of Monday, I’ll qualify for compensation under Texas lemon law for the second time with this vehicle. So far I have been compensated absolutely nothing. Wife and I have a house under contract and plan to close in less than a month. I’ll certainly need my truck to move...and I sure am getting tired of driving the wife’s Kia Telluride to Home Depot!!
