Transmission "Ordeal"

Still no news on repair. I visited the dealer Saturday 2/29/2020 to remove personal belongings from my truck. They said they are still waiting for an open bay and there’s 13 trucks in front of me. If my truck didn’t get fixed this by March 6, It wouldn’t be done for an additional week due to mechanics’ PTO schedules.

After I reached 30 days without my truck or a loaner vehicle at all on this second transmission rebuild, I decided to seek legal advice. FCA case manager said he would send me an email to verify I have an attorney and then he would be removed from the case. The email he sent wasn’t relative to the conversation at all (in fact it was an introductory email) and then I received an automated response indicating the case is closed. Nothing heard from FCA since and that was on March 2nd.

Lemon law case has been filed amongst other things. Can’t believe this is still going on....

This “ordeal” will be settled by a lemon law ruling. Hated for it to come to this. Just waiting on the final number$ now.

Curious to hear the final number - Just from past internet message board memory, Lemon Law rulings seemed pretty good and fair but I'm working from a pretty small sample size. A big question is how your attorney fees get worked out?

in Texas, there’s a specific formula used to calculate the lemon law buy-back amount. It is pretty fair. It’s basically full sale price minus a mileage rate for the amount of Vehicle use before issues.

my attorney rates are very fair as well. I’ve partnered with a local attorney & CPA firm for all my needs. Since his firm gets all of my work, we have a fair pricing agreement in place.

I have a small town lawyer. I partnered with him not long after he started his practice. He’s smart enough to see the value in taking care of customers. If not, everyone in town would know quick.


We FINALLY have a resolution date set. FCA is calling it an “exchange” appointment. 6/25/2020, 10am. 7 months exactly since this was said to be an “ordeal.” What sucks is I still like dodge trucks and would have preferred to have my truck Repaired timely and correctly. Still having a hard time believing it has come to this!!

It happened - FCA bought my truck back today. Still waiting on refund for my mopar extended warranty. I never got past the standard manufacture’s warranty.

wont own a new dodge again, that’s for sure. I still think dodge 3/4 & 1 tons are the best looking trucks on the road and wish I could bring myself to buy another...but not after the way FCA treated me.

I’ve made it this long without a truck by using my company truck and old trucks at the ranch. I’ll probably keep doing that for the time being. If I buy new again in the next year or so, it will be a 7.3 gas F-250.

I have to say...I've never had a minutes problem hooking up a tow truck to the Ford.But it does get old driving there on the side of the road to get to it tho.lol

FINAL UPDATE

363 days later...FCA has refunded every penny owed to me from my 2018 Ram.

And

I have 10k miles on my 2020 Chevy 1500 Z71 3.0 duramax. Love my little duramax.

Well over a year since FCA officially bought back my truck…I’m still getting emails for check engine lights!! I once found the truck for sale in Arizona at a dealer that had used car section for buy-backs, claiming most issues are minor in nature and only resulted in buy backs due to part delays. I think the truck is still there but not sure.
