Are you using the purple RCA outs? Have you tried changing to grey or black? I know purple says subs but should be able to test on all. I would try the grey since the black has a video out as well and wouldn't want to tie that up if you want to do a whole car DVD system

Again I don't think it's an amp thing, you said it was powering on correct?

Well the thing turns on i mean, like the lights on it come on, so I'm assuming its powering on haha, id didn't test if there is power on the speaker out, but id assume so, if it comes on right?

Im not worried about doing a whole DVD set up. i probably won't take it any further then these subs besides some new speakers. Can i use any of the plugs in then?? do they all work the same?

Get a multimeter and verify power first thing. Make sure you have a constant 12v on the battery side, a 12v on remote when the radio is on and that it isnt there when the radio is off and that there is a short to ground on you negative terminal. Next, try a different RCA output. There is still a good chance your sub output is not tuned on, so verifying that your RCAs work will help you narrow it down.

+1, also what is the gain on the amp set at? Have you checked the fuses on the amp with a meter?

The gain is set at around low, I didn't want to turn them up really high or anything, also I don't have a multimeter right now haha I should actually run out and get one for sure. I'm I little confused on what you mean by "there is a short to ground"? Where should I ground my amp? And can I buy bigger terminal connectors because right now their ****tily put on there by the guy who did it. Haha I'll take pictures of everything and then tell me if there's something wrong with it. I'll get the multimeter and try that out first though

Your ground wire should be short and grounded to the body(bare metal).

Okay thats what i thought it meant. is there any spots you guys recommend grounding it?? i don't like having ground to my battery...

Also i just switched the RCAs to the grey ones, and no luck... The grey ones had never been used before, still had the plastic cap on em. so either its the RCA wire, or the amp isn't giving power from the speaker out, I'm assuming?

Haven't tried new RCA cable yet? Think like 3 people suggested that on page one :)

I have bout ten sets of RCAs at home, think they are like 5 bucks for cheap ones maybe less. Got like a old DVD player? Those RCAs will work just fine.

Haha I'm not sure on all that off hand here, I'm not at home but set up is

Head unit. Clarion vx409

Subs 2 12" type r 1222

Amp mrp m1000

I might just buy a whole new amp install kit and replace all the crappy **** he put in and asked $80 for after it was all in... This is after I test the amp out though, I picked up a multimeter but don't know how to use it ahaha what setting do I need it on to test the speaker out??
