Good evening all.

I have a 2014 Ram 2500 with a Uconect 8.4A. This evening I started up the truck and the radio/nav screen was blank. I received the message "having trouble starting the head unit. IF this problem persists please see the dealership. I did the soft reboot and now getting the message looking for update please wait. Then followed by the head message. Has anyone else had this problem? I am going to see if an update might help.
Thanks all.

P.S. I did a scan and had a fault in my HVAC controller for loss of communication with Radio.

My radio will now not turn off.....I had to disconnect both batteries. they were unhooked for about 30 seconds. Radio started to look for update again. Will leave off all night to see if that helps. This sucks.

Update,

Got home and hooked up both batteries and the unit was still stating insert usb update . I drove the truck for 20 minutes nothing, Parked truck hooked up battery charger and left truck off. Radio was still trying to update. Got home from movie 8:10 and saw the unit was finally updating!!!!!!!! Took 20 minutes to update and units is now working as designed. Man what a royal pain. Just so glad it is done.

Well back to square one. unit froze up on me after about 5-10 minutes of driving. After a few stops it came back like nothing happened lasted about another 10 minutes an froze again. Wonder if I messed up on the update? Also wonder is I need a new radio?

Update on my radio....Head unit had failed, I had 4 options:
1. Go and get a new one at $2,100
2. Get a used one and hope it works for $450
3 use my warranty and hope they cover it for $500
4 or use Infotainment.com and they will fix your unit and give it a 90 day warranty for $299

I chose the last and also got the 1 year extended for $29 more. It took 2 weeks from the time is sent it to them till I had it back. I still had all my radio settings and my nav favorites. Hope fully this will help other that are having radio issues.
