2013 Uconnect: "there was a problem starting thr head unit"...

Hey, I'm having issues with the Uconnect system (Non nav version ) on my 2013 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman. (Currently it's on version 14.25.5) Most of the time it works just fine but occasionally when i start the truck the Uconnect will fail to boot and display "there was a problem starting the head unit." followed by "if this error persists after an ignition cycle please see your dealer". (as seen in photo) Often times when this is displayed it will remain like this for a few hours even when i shut off the truck and turn it on again. and other times i can do a soft reset and it will be back to normal working order. On top of this. sometimes the screen will freeze yet all the functions of the radio will still work.

I'm just curious if anyone else has had these issues. and if so how have they resolves them or if they have any recommendations on what i can do. I've scanned forums a bit and I've heard some people suggest replacing the unit and others talking about updating the system im just not too sure where to start.

You may have resolved this...

Depending on the actual radio part# & USA vs Canada,etc an update may help or or may brick the radio fully if the hardware fails during the update. Keep engine running or on a battery charger to avoid voltage drop during updates.

Latest USA & Canada radio version is v18.45.x (need to get to v17.x first).

And then ..
- ROLL-UP INFO: FOTA 18.11.x & uC D/L 18.45.01 SW Update 13-17 RA3/Vp3-NA & Ra4 VP4-NA

If you brick the radio during the update, it will need replaced (maybe a newer one? with AA Carplay?. See here)
