Have had my Ram for about a year and a half now and I really like it a lot, but over the last few months it's developed a problem that is driving my nuts! It started with going a little too fast on a bumpy road. Suddenly goes into limp mode. Turned it off, started it back up. Everything seemed good. Figured it was a glitch. 2 mos goes by, no issues. Then it does it again on the same road! Don't go down that road anymore.....LOL
A few more weeks go by and it limps out again on me. Another bump, but not a big one. Now it just does it on random bumps. Got me completely baffled. I've cleaned grounds and battery cables. Afterwards I take it on the bumpiest road I know of and it seems fine. Fixed right? Nope. Still doing it randomly. Always a bump, but usually not a big one.
At first was thinking it needed a crank sensor, because the code was P0339. Along with P1618. This happened 3x. Then I got P0642 - Sensor Reference Voltage A Circuit Low along with P1618 again. Haven't seen P0339 since.
Yesterday pulled the codes and now have P1618 and U1424. According to AI U1424 means Implausible Engine torque Signal Received.
Anybody ever run into this? What should I do next? There are some grounds I've not found and haven't been cleaned, but not sure this is all that likely. It's a problem with the 5V reference circuit right? That circuit seems to control a buttload of sensors. I've taken a few connectors off and reseated them. Nothing looks wrong to my eye. Wires going to the crank sensor look perfect.
