Will my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500ST be able to handle my 6,000 lb travel trailer?

Trick question? I ask that because you should have no issues towing that with a 2500. You didn't add any details on the 2500 but no matter it should be fine.

BTW-you won't be at 6000lbs on that TT. Likely closer to 7000lbs depending on how much you carry. The dry weight does not include batteries, propane tanks, or a few other things. But even at 7000lbs you should be fine with a 2500

Nah...no tricks
Well, I've never owned a Dodge pickup. All I've owned is Fords (and 1 Toyota 30 years ago)...I do own a Dodge Grand Caravan which has been a great vehicle. We've had it since 2009.

I actually don't own the Dodge Pickup I referred to above but...might by the end of today.

I was just asking because, I wanted to make sure. You see, I currently own a 2008 Ford F150 STX but...it doesn 't have the tow package. So, after some research and brain pain...I finally figured out, it's actual tow limit is 5,000 pounds. Prior to purchasing the TT I thought I had done all my home work...I even called 2 different dealers and gave them the VIN and both stated as long as I was under 7,500 pounds...I should be good to go. It wasn't until I noticed my transmission getting too hot and a call to Ford (not a dealer...Ford) that I figured out that 5,000 pounds was my actual limit.

I had a transmission temperature gauge put on the truck thinking that...as long as the engine wasn't overheating and as long as the tranny was good to go...I should be fine. The truck handled the rig just fine. I also noticed on my last outting that...while pulling the TT my trucks AC wouldn't blow cold air.

Anyway, mulling over 2 options...having a better tranny cooler with fan installed or...getting a bigger truck. I came across this 2008 Dodge with only 67,000 miles on it and it looked like a pretty good deal - gonna check it out later today. I figured a 2500 would have no problems with my current TT but...figured I'd ask people that know anyway.

Below is a couple pics of the truck I'm looking at...2008, 67,000 miles - $18K

Should be no problem for that truck. Not sure what the tow rating or payload capacity is but appears to be a 2WD so should have plenty of payload and towing should probably be at least 8000lbs

Just did a quick Google search and looks like your payload should be about 3000lbs and towing minimum would be about 9000lbs so should be well within limits. I'm sure you can dig deeper to find exact numbers but I don't think you will even be close to max so I'm not gonna dig deeper....lol. Should be a yellow sticker inside the drivers side door jamb that shows payload. Not sure the 2008's have them but check for that

I drove 2 and a half hours...ready to buy...talked to them right before I left. When I got there...they told me it was sold. Sheesh.

And...it's still listed on their site as "For Sale". I wonder how many other people they've hooked with that ad. I should have known better...a fancy BMW dealership in St. Louis - PlazaBMW. I felt dirty the minute I walked into that place. At least they offered to buy me some gas...lol. I declined however, if I would have had a couple of my 5 gallon safety gas cans in the back of my truck...I might have taken them up on the offer.

Here's the ad...if you wanna try your luck...lol!
