I have a 2008 5.7L dodge mega cab. Went down to the river today and it was pretty muddy and wet, once it was time to leave the truck had troubles starting, final got it to stay running after it died a few times. But on the way home the truck had no power and the rpm was higher then it usaully would be. Any help would be appreciated.

How deep did you go in? Need to see what codes are popping to narrow things down. Sounds like you are in limp mode.

Found out what was wrong with the help of a mechanic at work The truck was losing power because the intake took in to much water and mud and was allowing enough air to the engine, and the truck was dying because the alternator was clogged with mud. Did and oil change got a new filter and took the alternator off and cleaned it. Now the truck is back to running great.

I hope you have a lot of pictures of your day in the river. I would recommend you put them in an envelop along with a note telling what a great time you had and put it in the glove box for quick reference when your truck isn't running in the future. Without extensive preparation a modern street truck is easily trashed by mudding. I'm afraid you are far from finished paying for that day at the river.

Surprised it is still running if it actually inhaled some water.
