First time poster, long time reader!
So my 2008 1500 SLT 4X4 decided it didn't want to start this weekend. Locks or nothing worked, but gauges were working, as was the fuel pump. No catch at all, like a dead ignition system. After trying everything I could think of, I was forced to have it towed to the dealer. The tech got the truck running after about 1.5 hours by resetting the remote key module next to the ignition key, in the column. He told me it would go out again, so I said order the replacement and I would put it in myself when it gets in. (still don't have any word when I'll get that)
Next day I was driving my dodge roullette and the check engine light came on, then after about 50 miles, it went off. I thought maybe the battery is dieing. So pulled into an auto parts store. We tested the battery and it was going bad. CCA were real low. Bought a new batter, starting like a champ now.
My question is...I think the low charged, dieing battery may have caused a problem with the remote module, which engaged the anti-theft system, causing the truck to not recognize the key and not turn over.
I think paying for a new module shouldn't be necessary. Thoughts?
