I replaced the batter in my 2015 Ram 1500 and now the key fob doesn't work. Battery is good, replaced the key rubber (metal contacts had detached), but no workie. Battery has power, dome light goes on, charged overnight and was starting fine before battery was replaced.

Is there any way to start the truck with the cut key from the fob? Key fob is like the one below:

If you look closely at the circuit board and follow the traces, the transponder is not connected to the battery. You can have a totally dead fob battery and the transponder chip will be recognized by the WIN and RFHM. It's either a problem with the WIN or the RFHM if that is your original fob.

Happy New Year!

As an update, the issue was not the key fob. I bought a couple of new OEM fobs and had a locksmith come to my house to get the new keys programmed and cut. He wound up resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery terminals and then shorting them together. Computer came up, truck started and now I have the original plus a couple of spares.

If this happens again, then it wasn't a fluke and I'll need to dig further to see what hosed the computer. Any thoughts on what to check or where to start?

$200, but he also cut and programmed an additional two OEM key fobs. He was fairly close when I called and was able to fit me in between jobs a half hour after we talked. He also removed functionality for any key not in my possession.

Looks like the issue has returned, though the computer itself still comes on. I can reset it, but that will only work until whatever is failing goes kaput, so I'll be looking into the WIM and the RFHM as mentioned above.

The issue has been resolved and neither the WIN or the RFHM were faulty or needed replacement!

Doing some research I found the the RFHM/RF Hub is sensitive to low battery voltages, and if the voltage drops below a certain point it will turn off and need to be reset by disconnecting the battery terminals for a bit. I checked my battery and it was one year past its warranty date, something I should have done as one of the first few steps.

I replaced the battery (Costco still sells them for $125, about half of what the local shops charge) and problem solved. My big clue is that the issue would happen if I hadn't driven the truck for a few days, but if I drove it every day there was no issue.

Hopefully this information will save someone else a bit of grief.
