When I got the truck last month the front struts were shot. I replaced them with Gabriel's. The back shocks seem good. They pass the bounce test. There problem is when I'm going down the highway and I hit bumps, small rolling ones the truck rocks back and forth more than I think it should. It does stops quickly because of the new struts. I went under the truck today and everything seems tight. Checked it on the ground and in the air. Could it be the struts are just too soft? I had a thread on that before but I thought I'd expound on the problem a little more.

Also when I'm cruising at highway speed and give it just a little gas I feel the tail end more to the side a little. When I let off the gas it goes the other way. Just a little.

Am I being over sensitive about this? Maybe get a new set of bushings? Is this how these trucks handle? My last truck was an '01 Ram and that thing rode like a tank. I'm not used to soft suspension trucks.

Thanks guys.

Check your sway bar bushings and mounts make sure everything is tight.

Could still be the rears or at least one of them is shot so it twists the truck up a little.

Thanks guys. At first I was going to try and replaced the front struts again but then I was thinking about replacing the rear shocks instead to see if it helps and then if needed put new bushings in but I wanted to get some other opinions to see if I may have missed something. Suspensions are not my strong point. You guys confirmed what I was thinking. Thanks. If anyone has any other ideas feel free to throw them out there.

I ordered rear shocks. It came down to Bilstein 5100 or KYB Monomax. I went with the KYB's. I know the 5100's are top quality but the KYB's got just as many positive reviews. We'll be getting a travel trailer either this year or next year so I wanted a heavy duty rear shock that could handle the weight and the KYB's seem like they'll do the job. Found them on Rockauto for $49 each. That's cheaper than Amazon (even with free shipping) or Auto anything. They'll be here Friday. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this will solve my suspensions issues.

always replace with all four and, preferably, the same so they act the same.

I already did the front struts two weeks ago. I held off on the back shocks because they didn't seem that bad but that was a mistake. Like you said I should have done all 4 then

Problem is new shocks are new. old shocks are not so they now have to work harder, to not only fight the road but also the bounce coing fro the newer, stronger shocks. tend to wear them out, even quicker and ages the new front shocks, faster.

I installed my new shocks yesterday and they did help a lot. They ride great. Very firm but in a good way. The truck doesn't rock nearly as much and when it does it's all in the front. It probably wouldn't hurt to put stiffer struts in the front but for now I'm happy.
