Hello, I traded in my 04 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Long box yesterday for an 2012 Dodge Quad cab long box. My aluminum topper was for my 04 but with the tailgate being different on the 12 it looks like I could make it work with some modifications.
First, is there such thing as a kit that would lift it up, looks to be about 1.5" needed for the back window to sit flush on the tailgate top.
Anyone ever fabricate a "false" rail to lift the topper?
I'm usually hauling sheets of hardwood plywood or finished cabinets. Mainly to keep things out of the elements and cargo blankets on finished product, I normally don't install during bad weather anyways. But sometimes mother nature surprises you.
Locking things up is not a concern and for that matter I'd let looks slide a bit too as long as it served the functionality.
The only other concern I have is the back tailgate looks to drain inward to the box so I'd have to affix something to the back window to get past the tailgate.
Anyone ever attempt this?
Thanks
Mark
