I just got my hemifever tune from Sean. Running the 93 tune. The truck hates driving slow now. I still have to log some stuff and send it back to Sean for a final tweak. Can't wait.

Congrats man! I'm still like a kid at christmas with my new HF tune... :) only 91 for me though (stupid California).

Yes in fact Sean turned off the rear o2 sensors. Like he said it may have premature damage to the cats in the case off with them they go haha. Me and some buddies was messing around with the tune today did some data logging and in fact there is a lot of power to be made down low. The first data log we did today was a 3.00 st knock. We added some timing and some fuel and she blows the tires off from a roll now.

You have to data log it. And look at the short term knock. It's going to have around a 1.5 to. 3.0 spike in between shifts. Any where else add 2 degrees of timing and some fuel until fuel doesn't work anymore.

i understand where to see it, how to log it and what it does - im just wondering where its safe to have it at. I know between shifts its not a big deal but where is it safe to have it while accelerating? How much before the truck starts pulling timing and negates the advanced timing you set up?

thanks - im gonna try and get a good one done today

how much st knock you were getting before you pulled fuel?

Adding or pulling fuel didnt change the ST knock. Its not a real knock just a hard shift. It gets higher when it shifts at higher rpms. You can see its shifting over 6000 rpms now, if I drop the shift dowm to 5900 the "knock" will be almost gone. But since its not real knock, Im not concerned. The 'knock' gets higher on a bumpy road even at part throttle. Not real knock. Next step would be to decrease knock sensor sensitivity, but as long as I know its not real its cool.

Next step is to add some timing and see if I can get more power.:burnout:

I was talking with a buddy of mine who is mechanically inclined, and he has concerns about raw fuel being dumped into the cats. He said that's what damages cats. But, he's also a Ford man and isn't sure if it's something RAM does. What are y'all's thoughts with this?

Tell him he should continue to work on fords, they are good practice!
Once youve worked on fords working on dodges is a cakewalk!
Then reccomend he take a cat converter and engine management course not from 1984

In a nutshell the richness is a protection method from the pcm to cool off the catalytic converters. Its only engaged when exhaust temps get hot. The lower the octane, the more chance this occurs. usually higher octanes have less heat production. Some WOT runs may be fine, some may engage it. Just depends on the cat temps. It can usually be deleted out but that can cause premature damage to the cats.

Going rich in order to cool the cats is the computers attempt to save the cats, it thinks they are about to melt. Sometimes we see this when the cats are no longer there but the rear o2s are still on. Or like hemifever said at WOT

So basiclly go ahead and tune your truck and do whatever you want with your cats and if ever there is a problem hemifever will turn off your rear o2s if you dont do it from the get go.

The rear o2s are only used for checking if the cats are doing their job and are not essential if thats what youre wondering...

Haha I give him a hard time every day. But at least his dream truck is an '05 Cummins. Sadly, I have to have the cats to pass emmissions testing for renewing my tags. I do love the loudness of no cats, but not worth having to put them back on every single year.

So no problem you get your tune and do some data logging and youll see if you need to turn off the rears.

At least your buddy has good taste in diesel pickups lol

So the final data log was a 1.0 ST knock at shift. All i added 2 degrees of timing and a little bit of fuel. It is a rocket out the hole now. Its just a little on the rich side 11.8. Now just a track time slip

I have a da tuner and a HF tune and I can DEFINITELY tell a difference in the butt dyno but I'm not roasting anything in any gear. Lol. I got the tune from Sean and the the weather went to **** and has stayed that way all winter long. I'm gonna hit him up once the weather breaks and see if there is something else that needs to be done. Hope it's not too ex$pen$ive. The list of honey-dos is getting longer and more costly every day. Ha.

My understanding is that once you have the HF tune, you have it for as long as you own the truck. Any changes you want made are no charge, unless you want to include new MODs like heads, cam, or boost.

Oh I thought it was a one time tune for like 125 and 250 or something like that if you wanted the lifelong subsequent tuning tweaks. I'll ask Sean tomorrow to be sure.

Who did you get the tuner from? And did you get the HF tune with the tuner, or purchase it separately? It could be different from company to company.
