This may sound ridiculous, but when the weather gets nice i like to drive on the beach, so i have an idea that i take my doors off my ram for a beach day. Is this possible to do despite the autopark safety feature if the doors are open?

You can get around the auto-park feature using a 3" seatbelt extender from here: https://www.seatbeltextenderpros.com/ram-pickup-seat-belt-extender/
The bigger problem you'll be up against will be all the wiring, disconnecting it and you'll possibly have CEL pop-up as the door modules will not be communicating on the CANbus
Interesting, is this something an obd2 code reader could shut off? Ive never done this before and cant find any info on youtube so thats why im askin here

Your stuck with the auto-park, no way to "turn it off"
As for the CEL, it's hard to say anything negative will result of the door modules not communicating. Things like the accessory power turning off with the ignition may not function correctly. Unless someone else pipes up about doing this, your sorta the guinea pig.
I'm not sure what all you would have turn off with AlfaOBD to ignore the door modules not being there.

Thats what i meant with regard to the code reader, i had a feeling i wouldnt be able to get rid of autopark. As long as the cel doesnt start making everything else wonky and not work right, i personally wouldnt mind, so long as it goes away once the doors are back

You're asking for trouble pulling the doors off,if they close good now, leave them alone. Lining them back up when you put them back on so they open / close and seal properly with-out any wind leaks is going to take you a full day.Rent a Jeep for the day if you want a Jeep, lol

Sounds easier to just get a Jeep. I have a Ram and a TJ Wrangler. Taking the doors off the Jeep is super easy, taking them off the Ram and reinstalling them sounds like a ridiculous nightmare.

Allignment issues will have you buying a cheap, used Jeep for those Saturday urges.
Get one like this then buff it out so it looks like this
Lesson learned: kids don't give a lick about working on vehicles, even when it's for them.16ccdd358e0fa4195fde3faa323ad1d4.jpg8d0daffc689308ae6479ee5d9bcafa55.jpg9026d9f62976aa5138df1fbc2976443f.jpg

Never had an alignment issue on other truck doors before. What's different about ours? Disconnect the harnesses, maybe remove a couple pins to lift the door up out of the bracket that's attached to the cradle?

I would have to check. Can't take more than a minute to disconnect the plug that's connected to the door, open the door and try to drive lol

I was thinking what about finding some cheap doors at the junk yard, and cutting them down as much as you can to get that half door look for the summer. Keep all the wiring and lose the glass and whatever parts are ready to cut off.

The more I look at it the more I want back in a Jeep Wrangler. I'm missing my old 13 JKU so much I'm officially saving for one. Hoping i can make it a Christmas gift by the end of this year. Wife will inherit the RAM.
Not sure i'll want the RAM doorless though. It may look a little weird since you can't remove the top either.

Another thing about removing the doors on a Ram, besides being real heavy.
Once you undo either the top or bottom hinge, the door is going to sag & bend things.
That is not the real hassle
When you go to put them back on, you need a flat surface & a floor jack at a minimum, even if two people are working on it

Two people that are not kicking back, can put the door on, IF it does not have any guts inside of it, in other words just a door shell
If the door has everything inside of it, you need a floor jack & 1 guy balancing the door as the 2nd guy works on the hinges

If you do remove them drill an 1/8 “ hole thru the hinge itself and into the door ,to be used for realignment. Drill both top and bottom hinges. This works well. Renting a Jeep is better.

I agree with renting a jeep for the day or weekend. Heck, I would love to have an old jeep. My son had one and I regret not buying it from him. Messing with the doors seems like a lot of work.

I should note too, that on my TJ I have the full doors with roll up glass, and those doors are heavy, and not that easy to put back on. The half doors are a lot easier. The Ram doors have to weigh at least twice as much as my Jeep doors.
