i bought the wife a journey a while ago, and we use the remote start to warm it up
it drives me crazy that it locks the car because its in my garage, it shouldnt be locked

is there a setting in alfaOBD where i can shut this nonsense off?

Once it's started with the remote, you should be able to unlock it again with the remote. Start it,then see if it unlocks with the remote, all my Chryco products will unlock via the remote, after remotely starting them.

Just how long are you letting it run in the garage? Seems a bit excessive to run it long enough inside, that it relocks itself.Just saying ;)
usually around 10 minutes, give or take

long enough for the heater to work

Then you send your wife and baby into a small garage after a vehicles been running for 10 minutes inside it,yea not the smartest thing you've ever done is it.Put a damn interior warmer inside it instead,so the vehicle doesn't have to run that long and gas everybody .Some days dude you make me shake my head and wonder how you ever got along in life

My Ram remote start vehicle twice for 15 minutes each before U got to start by depressing brake. I can unlock doors after remote start.

1st time I have heard that truck locks itself after a period of time. OP maybe yer fob buttons real sensitive and lock button getting hit. The only time truck locks itself if U have the safety set to automatically lovk doors after vehicle put in gear and moved.

The cars and apparently the Journey's relock themselves after a certain amount of time if started and unlocked with the remote.Easy way around that is to use the fob and unlock the vehicle as your heading to it,instead of unlocking it as soon as you remote start it.Once you touch a door handle then it'll stay unlocked

You cannot shut that off, it does it so you car doesn't get stolen or broken into while sitting there running unattended. Simply hit the unlock button when you are ready to get in it, too easy, problem solved.

All I know I have never had my 15 ED or current truck, 19 5th Gen "relock" themselves after remote starting the vehicle and hit unlock. Of course, when U remote start, the vehicle cycles through various parameters, like insuring all doors secured-truck locks them, hood down, no MIL present, before remote system will even work. All I can relate is what my 5th Gen does and what my ED did, had a II Gen ED before this 5th Gen.

In U connect Settings, there are various options and conditions you can set ref remote start. Way too many pages to copy/paste here. OP suggest you look in yer manual and/or download manual so you can review. Of course depends upon year of truck and sometimes Trim Levels on what options are available.

I unlock once I walk out the front door, or about to, but just not something I worry much about.

CAVEAT: In a big city, parking lot, crowded area or any other area where there could be PPL trying to read FOB keys and steal vehicle, I would neva REMOTE START or EVEN open till I was right next to vehicle especially when shopping somewhere, mall or wherever. Heck, in a Big City, I would not even walk around with my RAM RF emitting remote w/o being in a Faraday pouch, just saying.

My truck never relocked itself if you remote started it and then hit the unlock button on the remote, but both of the wifes Challengers do and so does our 300,after a certain period of time they relock themselves. It's never caused me any issues,as i don't hit the unlock button till i'm walking up to them

so here is how this scenario plays out...
we are both getting ready for the day, and were getting the kids ready

somewhere around 10 minutes before she leaves with the kids, i hit the remote start on the spare fob
(the car is parked in the garage so she keys are in it)

then at some point the kids try to get in the car, or the wife does and someone starts hollering "its locked!"

it is a royal pain

They don't do that untill it's time to get it
When then unlock it when they're getting in,or train one of them to open a door while it's still unlocked,as it won't relock if 1 door has been opened

My '21 Warlock has a setting in the Uconnect for Auto-locking.

With this set, the truck will automatically lock the doors after a remote unlock if one of the doors hasn't been opened within a fixed period of time.

I often return from kayaking, remote unlock to load boats into the box. If I forget to open a cab door within a minute or two, and close it, it automatically locks all doors.

IIRC, I shutoff the Auto-lock feature as a test, problem solved. I keep it set to Auto-lock because I appreciate the feature more often than not.

Try disabling the feature in Uconnect if it's annoying.

If the feature isn't available in your Uconnect, see link below.
