Do you guys who have these install any PPF (paint protection film) under the rubber gasket? Or am I over thinking this?

I drove to Quick-Shifters shop last month to upgrade rear suspension, brakes & replace fuel pump/sensor. We removed flare & wheel liner to access, had some faint rubs in clear coat where rubber touches fender, they are bushwhackers & have been on about 18 months. I have a friend who owns a paint & body shop, if it gets too bad I will have him fix & try that tape but I’ve heard it is hard to apply so it doesn’t show & still protects the paintD15359CE-227C-4F6F-87CB-9CE5D72E64E6.jpeg

it’s not too hard. I had flares with PPF under them.

1) You just “dry mount” the flares

2) use painters tape and put it on the body right up to the flare

3) remove flares

4) put PPF up right to the painters tape

5) rip off the painters tape & permanently install flares

did mine that way and you couldn’t tell unless you knew it was there and you were really looking for it.

That being said when I removed them I still had some minor paint damage under the flares from trapped dirt and road salt just sitting in there that needed correcting.

unless the flares came factory it’s the biggest reason (aside from the fact I just think trucks look better without pocket flares) I’d probably never put them on a truck again.

Tyger. Was in same boat as you and decided on going Tyger after looking at reviews. Color matched mine to my truck and no issues so far. Love the look!

Forgot to ask you... are those 35” tires and 4” lift on your truck?

Just getting idea of what it will look like on mine proportion wise.

I bought the Tyger, I like them fine. For $170 or whatever they are worth it IMHO. However, just today I was adjusting mine and notice one of the rivets back end started to slightly rub on the paint. No bueno. Id suggest using poly tape or something behind each bolt. Also had to heat mine and bend them in a tiny bit in certain areas (instructions actually tell you to do that if you notice gaps).

All in all though. Worth it. Just wish they had the "rugged" texture in stock.

Spray them with raptor bed liner and you will get that rugged textured look ... you can do it with using cans now .. might only need 2 cans but I would get 3 ... that's if you don't have a compressor .. if you do have a compressor get a kit

This is the kit with the gun

I had a paint shop paint my Tyger flares. They kept calling them Bushwackers. Couldn't tell the difference. Almost 2 years on my truck now without issue. Had a set on my previous 2015 for 3 years that also held up great.
