Uconnect CarPlay options for 2017

I’m looking for the easiest way to add CarPlay to my 2017 Ram 1500. An AI chat search came back with the following solution. Has anyone been able to add CP on a 2017 or earlier model by updating the firmware? I don’t find this solution in any of the previous threads on this forum. Thanks.

“For a 2017 Ram 1500 with the 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C, you’re in luck. If yours doesnt have it yet-dealer flash could fix that for free under warranty, or about one hundred fifty bucks out of pocket. Otherwise, check if your software’s up to date; newer firmware adds it.”

If using a Ram head unit, you need a 2018, or 2019-2024 Classic head unit an adapter cable you can get from M²Mods in the vendor section, and a I believe a USB hub with correct data port you can get from AllMoparParts in Vendor section. Your stock 8.4, if that is what you have won't update for it.

You can also contact places such as Crutchfield for an aftermarket unit plus cable.
