I have no idea it is just a message that pops up on start up before changing to 2nd message saying there's a problem with head unit. Dealer was no help just wanted to change out unit for $1k which is a little pricey for me right now but he neversaw 1st message it doesn't stay up long.
As was previously suggested--get a whole different 8.4 radio from Ebay with Nav and other features for under 500--don't be fooled into getting updating on your Climate stuff-the displayed surround shown for the 8.4 is less than 100 and works perfectly for all functions you need. I did it--and I'm thrilled with the way it works.

So what is the consensus... can we turn the automatic updates off on the uconnect? I just got an update last week on my 2018 with the 8.4 NAV and everything works fine. I would turn if off if the updates don't really do anything? I hate the subscriptions for weather and crap... that $hit pops up even if its not my area and I need to manually X out of it.

No, but you might be able to stop OTA by disconnecting the cellular card from the radio internally.
