Uconnect Questions ??

This may sound silly to some but I keep hearing about uconnect and I'm not sure what it is ??
My truck is a 14 express 4x4 QC , it came from the factory with the 3.0 RA1 radio

I'll be upgrading my setup to the RA2 5.0 touchscreen with hands free Bluetooth phone and music streaming with a tailgate camera next weekend .

And I'm still unclear what Uconnect does for ya? Does my truck have Uconnect? Will it when I install the RA2 ? Is worth having ? Can I add it with a kit ?
The mirror I'm about to install has the 911 button and an assist button , not clear if they will be usable or not with the RA2 ? Are these buttons on the mirror part of Uconnect ? I'm buying this for its microphones &auto dimming .
Can someone fill me in on what Uconnect is ?

The 5.0 doesn't have 911, you would need the RA4 or RA4N for that feature. This will explain what features are available for Uconnect radios.

A couple days ago I temporarily installed my RA2 radio to ensure it worked properly post shipping . At some point during the ops check ( 911 ) was displayed in the corner of the screen , the print was bold and quite large on a 5.0" screen ?
Anyone else ever see ( 911 ) displayed on their RA2 5.0 SCREEN ?

Interesting, as I have the 5.0 and never seen anything about 911 on it. I do have the overhead console, but doesn't have the 911 button on it.

I've been reading up on uconnect on the link you posted and it doest mention anything about 911 on the RA2 s capabilities ??
My truck is a 14 , I'm pretty sure my RA2 unit c AME out of a 2013 Diesel 2500 Ram.

Looks like I'll be installing my steering wheel with VR/Phone buttons and audio controls along with my RA2 radio tomorrow . If the 911 icon comes back up on the screen I'll get a picture of it ! I should have my mirror tomorrow , but I won't have its harnes till Wednesday , I also should have an OEM Tailgate camera kit complete with harness and new handle Wednesday as well ! I should be done with this upgrade NLT next weekend ! Then it's on to something else? ? Maybe LED interior lights , upper glove box kit and adding footwell lighting ...

Here is the ( 911 /HELP ) ICON on my new to me RA2 5.0 Radio I was talking about ??
Does anyone else have this ? I thought this feature was only (on screen) with the RA3 &4s ?
It comes up when I hit the PHONE hard key lower left on the radio THEN on the next screen touching the phone book icon lower left ?

Well my truck definitely has Uconnect ! On my radio upgrade to the RA2 I noticed the 911/ help icon on the 5.0" touchscreen , I touched it & it went to another screen this screen had a selection : 911 or. Roadside assistance



I pushed Roadside assistance and talked to Chrysler R.A operator and verified I had an active account. Wow really ? Cool , I purchased the extended warranty and roadside assistance when I bought the truck , but @ that time it had the RA1 3.0 Radio , so I wasn't expecting this feature with just a Radio upgrade ...

Then I pushed 911 button



And it called the local 911 operator ! Wow hidden features , I was not expecting that !! I guess that is a function through my paired smartphone .

The RA2 Radio I purchased from a member here , he said he got it from someone on the diesel forum ( I think ) I messaged to the guy I purchased it from and he said he never seen the 911 on the screen ?? ? Yippee for me !

Ok, that's good. I thought that feature was only available on the RA4 radios. I have to see if mine has the same, haven't dug to much into it.

Anyone who has upgraded to the RA2 from the RA1 did you do a sales code Flash for the RA2 ? Or a BCM reconfiguration , if so did you get any additional EVIC features on your RA2 Radio ?

If you didn't get a flash for the RA2 , did you have the Active Grid lines displayed on your radio screen and did you have the option under Parkview settings to turn on or off the Active grid lines ?
