I can confirm, Android Auto works very well for replying to messages. The mapping and traffic is so much better than the uconnect system as well. I've completely switched over to Android Auto and not looking back.
Are you just using the Android auto app on phone or do you have and Android auto head unit?

Awesome.

I think we are addressing the pre-2018 without Carplay/Android Auto. With these there is the uConnect service that at one point was the only way to access messages. Once they added the Siri/Androids version button, you could use the personal assistant to read messages and respond, making the paid requirement for uConnect no longer the only way to access messages via voice.

With Carplay/Android Auto, you are in a far better place than us pre-2018's.

This.

I was curious if they were using an actual Android Auto/CarPlay head unit, or just the app on your phone. You can use the app on your phone and I believe you can reply to texts from it as well but Im not sure if it will read them out to you.

Yes, I am actually using this on a 2018+ head unit. The thread had originally started about the 2018+ uConnect update, so I didn't think to mention that this would only work on 2018+ models. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up.

Same here, android auto works great. You can just say hey Google text Bob, and she will say ok what would you like the text to say? Easy. You can tell her to play any song you have in your music library.

yea android auto is so good, that's why i upgraded to the 2018 UAQ unit in my 2015, android auto is far superior and free compared to anything from uconnect... Unfortunately i have to deal with all the BS software glitches on the 2018 unit.

Is there a way to turn off automatic updates?

I was hoping the cell bypass plug would do it, but I think mpgrimm said even without an antenna plugged in you might still be able to pull enough signal to get an OTA.

Considering how well (/sarcasm) the OTAs work with a full signal, I could only imagine what would happen with a weak one.

Ugh, that sucks. So there is no menu option I take it?

FWIW after transplanting an RA4 into my truck (which had an RA3) my truck now seems to be a ghost to all things UConnect...not getting Vehicle Health Reports, the mileage on my Mopar Owner Dashboard is not updating and I have not received any prompts for the current OTA update.

Gotta call Uconnect and have them link the new RA4 to your VIN to get your features back. Regardless of whether or not you do this you're gonna get OTA updates, so you might as well get it linked up to your VIN to get all your features back.

Nah, Im good!

I dont want them anywhere near my truck.

If I want to know how many miles are on my truck Ill just look at the EVIC.

If I want to know the health of my truck Ill just look under the hood.

They won't do that, I tried. They cannot modify the build sheet of the truck.

They did it for me I told them my old RA3 got busted and I replaced it with the RA4 I found online. However they can't do it for changing from the RA4 to UAQ.

Yeah its "just a sales code" so I dont see why they couldnt change it like if you added remote start, etc.

Granted, RA3 is already there, maybe they can only ADD but not CHANGE? Doubt it, but my guess is they dont know how which gets translated into "its not possible".

Anybody know anything about this “new TSB”?

View attachment 182281

So, I had an appointment with my dealer’s service department to see if this was real. A new software update actually had been released on 10/2/19. TSB0801619 Rev E. It put me up to IR22.6. And unbelievably, it fixed the crappy sound quality and a few other issues with my UAQ (w/nav) in my 2018 Ecodiesel. Only took 13 months. Smh. But it’s finally over for me. For those still suffering, you should check with their dealer.

This is great news!

It's like getting a new truck.
