I also did a test and have an update.

Via car play my notification volume of 0 has stayed. When the phone is just Bluetooth, EVERY notification comes in with volume 15. Even if I turn it to zero while she is talking, the next text is back to 15. Luckily it is not as loud as before....but this means I either plug in usb or disable notifications :/

I just went out in the driveway and messed with the VR button and noticed that everytime it spoke the volume resets back to 15. It's weird that the other day it stayed where I set it. I'm not going to knock it though, because before it literally would blast my ears out. I really don't use all the "hi tech" features on it anyway and I'm just tickled to death that I can actually the audio quality again

Glad to hear that I'm not crazy, then. (Depending on who you ask). At least there is some consistency, as I was afraid mine was the only one that was like I described. Thank you for checking that out Cstan. And you are right that the audio quality is substantially better. I can actually hear my dash speakers now.

northvibe, Thank you for checking, too. That seems to match up to what mine does. I disabled text notifications, too.
I should be thankful for the improved audio, if nothing else.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys.

Mine is setting back to a default volume of 15 as well. Usually when my phone is plugged in, I use Siri anyway, which is controllable. I don’t usually use a lot of the VR functions anyway.

The main thing I use VR for is to dial a phone number, that way I don't have to fool with my phone. But again, I'm relieved to hear mine is operating consistently with others as far as the VR goes.

Does 22.6 for the UAQ even exist? Or we're hoping it gets released?

There is no UAQ fix yet. Misery loves company? :(. I’m actually in contact with a lemon law attorney. They made me aware of some rules where the company must reimburse us for all of the time wasted with this issue. I’m gathering all of my vehicle record for them now. If they find that I have a case I’ll get their permission to share their contact info here. Even if they do fix it, sending us back and forth to the dealer for almost a year is not satisfying the contract outlined in their ‘warranty’

This is strange. How much can Uconnect see when linked to your phone? Got in the truck this morning bluetooth linked up, didn't have a music app running yet, also didnt have RamForum.com up on my phone either. The radio displayed a forum member who i got reply from day before? Anyone seen that before?

I had an appointment with dealer today. Upgraded software from 21.9 to 22.6. I'm happy to say my radio is back to what it sounded like before the Sept OTA update. Have not tested everything else. Hope everyone gets fixed.

Your sound quality over the Sirius XM satellite antenna is going to be subpar to anything else you play through it ( aside from AM radio haha). It's overly compressed and plays under 128kbs. I'd imagine your signal strength would factor into that and fluctuate much like a cell phone. A weak signal would probably cause more audio quality issues.

Ugh xm!!!!!! Haha I’ll try via the xm app tomorrow from my phone. Should be a better consistent feed. Even before the update my xm would change as I was driving which I never experienced in my other cars, the quality changing.

Definitely would be better quality streaming from the app on your phone, through your truck. I've always had "glitches" while listening on satellite radio where for a split second it will get real loud and staticky.

I still don't have a UAQ update newer than v18.14. just emailed you info for possible map files update via eBay seller.

PS: what application version is your UAQ?

Not sure if the map updates work for the UAx radios or not, but you can contact this guy via ebay & check. Several have used him for RA3 & Ra4's

Edit: like like it's just the 13-17 RAx radios but he may be able to wheel something out.

I was wondering if someone could answer this question? Is it correct that the 2018 Ram 1500 had two different radio units? I thought I read somewhere that the radios that most of us in this forum have with the bad update were Panasonic's and, at some point in time either before or after they were using a different brand name? I can't recall specifically. The Panasonic's apparently were the only ones that got the bad update? If this is the case I was wondering if it would be possible to have the dealership order the other brand name / non-affected radio unit and have it installed? I'm on my third Ram 1500, I've had a 14, 16 and 18 and in every one of them the radio units looked and functioned exactly the same. I may have some things backwards or, I may be totally wrong? Hopefully someone in here knows?
