I tried To do the uconnect update and failed and now it’s stuck on the hour glass saying “wait 2-5 min” and it 30 sec or so later switches to the insert usb and so on...at first I used a 64gb SanDisk usb (exfat format) then I read forums that said use fat32 so I go to buy another usb and got it to fat32 and still no luck...took it to the dealership and they said I need a new radio which cost $2,000+...any help or do I need a new radio? Also anybody knows if I can hard reset the radio so that I can get rid of that “wait 2-5 min”? Soft reset doesn’t work for me, thanks

Sorry to say this seems to happen on some older units. The Sierra Wireless it is referring to is a controller board that is part of the radio. The install (usually) fails at that step because the controller board is bad, but sometimes it can be just because it is loose on the main board (it kinda sorta snaps in). But that is all internal to the radio, so not easily fixable.

BUT there is a place on the internet that will repair it, NavRepair I think it is. Far cheaper than a new radio, I think its $300.00 but you would obviously have to send them your radio.

THANKS! I will definitely give that a try, I tried everything I read in the forums and nothing, I will contact them tomorrow and hopefully get it fixed

Navrepair is a way better option to have the radio fixed over purchasing a new one. You just have to take the time and remove your radio, and send it to them. The radio is not that hard to remove, and I believe there are some video's on how to remove it.

Hi Alejandro,
We are sorry to hear about your frustrations. Please try to do these steps below:
Try holding down the hard round buttons for 20 or more seconds (should be the power button and the tuner button, underneath the screen) and this should reset your Uconnect.
If you need future assistance feel free to private message our team!

Hi everybody, I tried to update Uconnect using a USB flash drive 32 Gb from Monday to Wednesday just failed all 3 days update stopped at unit 11. Next I Disconnected the battery (-) negative cable. Thursday, Friday and today Saturday morning reconnected battery (-) negative cable. set ignition to run position (engine off) I inserted USB flash drive, left vehicle alone not even an hour and Updated Successfully.
