When trying to install latest version of the software update for my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 (from drive.Uconnect site), I get the following error code:

"error: loader.lua: system product mismatch, stick contains vp3 but target is vp4"

I have tried the following already:
- Using new Kingston Flash drive with 32Gb
- using other generic Flash drives with over 32Gb

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You are using the wrong firmware update. You have a NAV (VP4/RA4) radio and are trying to flash firmware for a non-NAV radio (VP3/RA3).

Tracking. But the website only gives me that option for the update. The "Vp3" option. Does that mean i have no choice but to take it to a dodge dealership?

I’d suggest you grab a tall mug of coffee or a cold brewski and read from start to finish the ”sticky” thread on updating these radios.

best,

Sounds like the previous owner upgraded to NAV...

If you to the U Connect website, it will state that your dealership will be glad to do it for free. The dealer tries to charge $150 for what the website says will be a 25 minute process. I spent two hours with UConnect tech support trying 4 different jump drives. I finally gave up and mailed the 4G adapter back.

I agree. My 2014 Laramie Longhorn has a useless Nav.

The firmware and Uconnect Software does not contain Map updates, so updating it won't fix that issue.

You HAVE to purchase the Map/Navigation update from Ram if you want it updated with more recent roads and addresses, but honestly the Nav (even updated) pales in comparison to Google Maps anyway. I got my 2019 5th Gen brand new in 2018, and even at that point the latest and greatest Navigation database was two years out of date compared to Google Maps.

If you have Apple Carplay or Android Auto (not sure what your radio supports), just use Google Maps from your phone through the radio. If not, than a decent phone holder beside the radio or on the dash in front of you will be smaller but will still work just as well for directions. I use a phone mount that attaches to the trim beside the vents above the radio, so the phone is still in easy line of sight without pulling my eyes away from the road without obstructing the view or being distracting, and just run the charger cord along the trim down the side of the radio and out of the way.
