A few years ago, while I still owned a Ford F-350, we were towing our 5th wheel trailer when, unknown to me, the tailgate opened while running down the slab. During a rest stop, found out that it had opened and found significant damage to the front compartment door of our 5'er and some damage to the tailgate. After we got home, I attached a strap with a quick release buckle that would stop the tailgate from opening all the way and possibly causing damage again. Forward to today, after reading about problems with some Dodge Rams having the same problem, figured I'd add a strap to my Ram, just in case...
