Update my truck?

My truck, 2002 2500 Diesel 78,000 miles, has manual windows and locks. I would like to upgrade them to power, but don't have lots of money to spend. The power locks are the most important at this point as I am concerned about security in the area I live. I want to be able to get in fast with a keyless remote system. I will not be able to do the work myself.

Do you have any suggestions? How do I find a good tech that could do the work for me cheaply? I find that going to dealerships or even just truck repair places they want to take advantage of a woman who is 66. If you want to know, I live in Houston, TX.

your best bet is going to be finding a car audio shop. it is very possible to install keyless entry on a manual lock vehicle and the cost is fairly low. best buy may be an option as well although they do not carry any low cost alarms/keyless entry modules.....good luck in your endeavor

I tried to find a store in Houston as described in the first reply, but none of them had a web site that fully described their products and/or services. I got this truck to pull my 30' travel trailer that I live in. I've used it over the mountains in southern Oregon, and across the country to Missouri and back to Texas. Now I feel like I will have this truck for most of the rest of my life, so I want it to be safe for me since I am alone these days.

Maybe some more hints would help me out here. Anybody?

Maybe make a post in the regional section so the post wont get buried and see if anyone on here would be willing to help out and what they'd charge. Looks like Summit Racing has some kits for around $150.

Or ask one of the shops in the area what they'd charge to install it. But I'm guessing a shop would charge quite a bit, especially for something they didn't sell. I would guess another $100-150, but just a guess.

Ram Head, I did find the kit on their web site. Printed the page and will try to find a place that will install it., I also know a man that might be able to do it for me. After next week, when I stay with his mother all week and he takes vacation, he will owe me!!

I have gone to Best Buy's web site but been unsuccessful in finding what I think I need. Maybe I am searching the wrong way. Maybe you can give me a link instead of just sending me there.

you should physically go to best buy....they do free installation for over 100 dollar purchase. im guessing you will spend around 250 for an alarm with keyless entry and adding power locks.....dont qoute me on that though. if you were in fort worth dallas area i could help you with it but since you arent i can only point you in the right direction

I know they sell them there. May have purchase it separately and sweet talk them into only charging you one install fee.

Free installation already...even better. I've never used them so I didn't know that.

best buy will charge you for all parts used extra but there wont be a labor charge.....this is probably the best bet for someone who has no background in or is not familiar with mobile electronics. you could also try car toys but be prepared to pay through the nose for that.
