Hey everyone,

I just purchased a Ram 1500 Laramie Ecodiesel last month and I am doing some light modifications. So far I just added running boards and enabled the LED DRL's.

My biggest letdown with be truck would have to be the output of the halogen projector headlights. It's pretty stupid IMO that there is no HID option available with this truck.

I am working with RIHIDs and having Morimoto bixenon's and ballasts fitted into the OEM dark housing headlight assemblies (the ones found on the rebel and sport models). I purchased the OEM dark housing headlights and tail lights to give my truck a subtle yet more aggressive look.

Along with updating the headlights to Bi-xenon Hids I am also upgrading the fog lights to Hids and upgrading all the bulbs and reverse lights to LEDs.

Finally to finish it off, I had my DRLs enabled and just got in the Diode Dynamics switchback boards in the mail today to give the DRLs a cleaner look with the white LED DRL's. Here's a picture of them..

I should have everything retrofitted and installed in the next couple of weeks and I will post before and after pictures! In the meantime, here are some photos of my truck..

I'll be curious to know the brightness comparison with the stock DRLs and the new diode dynamics white DRLs. I've tossed the idea around about doing it. But from what I've read, the new white lights won't be as bright, especially during the day. Let us know!!

The stock LEDs are extremely bright, I notice especially at night when I use my blinkers the amber lights up the entire road and surroundings. Even if they aren't as bright I'm looking forward to white DRLs. It may also be the fact that amber stands out a lot more than white and it could just be an optical thing... I'll fill you in after the install!

Can't wait to see your completed project!

As for brightness, amber will be brighter than white - but the white......man, its freakin' cool. ;)

I'm getting it all done Friday night, I'll have some pics over the weekend!

I did what was recommended by the shop and went with Morimoto 50w ballasts at 6500k (according to the retrofitter, 6500k looks like 5500k at 50 watts)

It's late and I just got in the door, but here are a few quick photos I took at the shop!

Will have more pictures of the headlights, the output (which is fantastic [emoji6]) and of the fog lights which are completely insane.

Overall, extremely happy, the truck should have had an option for HIDs from the factory. Highly recommend to anyone considering to at the very least go HID with their low beams.
