Hey everyone, first question is what are the details of the stock 09 1500 quad cab sport? Wondering if it’s alpine or whatever, just not sure what type is in a bone stock truck.

Second question is with a 50$ budget what speaker upgrade would you guys get into?

I know this sounds like a pretty loaded question but Christmas is coming up and a family member asked me what I’d like and I think with a 50$ limit, speakers could fall into this category.

Does your stereo have any type of branding on it like Alpine or Beats?

For $50 you can change the dash speakers. I just did the mopar kicker swap. Much more clarity.

Thanks! That’s I guess my real question. Since I wouldn’t be able to replace all of them, which ones would make the biggest difference over the stock ones.

PS TomT, I’ll check once I get home whether or not it has any branding on it.

Also, if you could post some links to where I could find said speakers would be great(assuming that’s not against the rules). I literally have no idea where to buy these things for a decent price in 2018 lol.

Even on the center dash speaker? (I don’t remember if the older Rams has the Alpine logo on the grill).

A lot of good basic info here.

https://www.ramforum.com/threads/alpine-system-upgraded-with-jbl-and-pioneer.113091/

Even though your just possibly replacing 2 sets of speakers.

I just replaced both corners (Dash Speakers) & Rear doors with JBL Clubs from Amazon.
Remarkable difference in clarity & just a much cleaner/crisp sound within the cab now.
I actually am glad I upgraded the rear door speakers - with a small adjustment to the fade & equalizer the back seat came to life.

I was on a small budget as well.
Amazon was so much cheaper the Sonic or Crutchfield.

I went back & forth between Infinity & JBL - Both brands deliver excellent quality & crisp/clean/clear sound @ a affordable price.
Saved enough through Amazon to finish my LED project on my Ram.

You need to check and see what the ohm rating on the front dash speakers is. If you have 4ohm speakers in the dash you can replace them with aftermarket 3.5" 4 ohm speakers no problem and get much better sound. You can get get Metra speaker wiring harness for about $8. This will let you use the factory wiring. Places like Crutchfield.com usually sell the wiring harness with the speakers. Most car audio speakers are 4 ohm (with the exception of subwoofers). I have a 2017 Express regular cab with uconnect 5.0 radio and basic six speakers two 3.5" in dash, two 6x9's in the front doors, and two 6x9's in rear pillars. The front dash speakers in my truck are 8 ohm speakers. If your dash speakers are 8 ohm I would advise against replacing them with 4 ohm speakers (the 4 ohm speakers will play louder than the rest of the system and overpower the other speakers). If you're not sure what the ohm rating is you can take one out and check the back of the speaker magnet. It should say 8ohm or 4 ohm on the magnet. here is a simple vid I found on YT which explains how to get the speaker out if you don't already know.

As far as where to purchase that's up to you. Crutchfield is a top notch retailer with excellent product selection and service. I've also ordered from Sonic Electronix
