I have a 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie PW with the V06 recall completed in 2019 by the previous owner. Recently I went to an alignment shop who could not complete my alignment because they did not have welding equipment. He then showed me that my jam nuts had been welded to the adjuster. After doing some more research I found that this was the recall fix. I contacted my dealer and they said they can replace the drag link at MY EXPENSE and do an alignment for double what I was quoted at the original shop. (grand total they quoted was $1000+).

This seems like something the dealership should be required to pay for?? Since that prevents most commercial tire/alignment shops from doing alignments? Any help with this would be appreciated.

Since the recall was performed you may be SOL on getting anything for free.

If you search on here, there is/was an aftermarket drag link that the replacement drag link was very similar to that is pretty cost effective, I want to say less than $200? You could conceivably install it yourself and then just have the alignment shop do your alignment.

I want to say the OEM updated drag link isn't that expensive either but I don't recall what the pricing was on that.

The subject was beat to death here when the recall came out, there should be LOTS of threads on it.

The OEM link is between $300-400 depending on where you buy it. Moog makes an aftermarket link for $250. Synergy makes a chromoly DL for about $450. Apex Chassis makes an HD DL for about $500.

My DL is still welded, but as soon as I need an alignment I'll likely install the Synergy and be done with it.

thanks to you both for the info....i have previous experience as a mechanic so installing it should be fairly straightforward as it only sets the steering angle, and not the toe. Definitely beats $1k at the dealer. What are the differences between synergy and moog compared to oem? just material of the bar itself or are the ball joints different?

Synergy has replacement ends for theirs. I've had mine on for 3 or 4 years now. I'd buy it again.

I think a lot of people went with the Synergy just because they could get their hands on it easily. I could swear I remember hearing the price was lower but maybe that was just what Mopar would reimburse for, I don't know.

Contact ramcares and explain the situation and they should be able to get you set up with a new one, they did mine for free but it's been several years. The dealer has no way to replace it other than to charge you, they do not have the authority to cover it under a "good will" bucket of money like Ram corporate can.

Long time ago - after much trouble when the recall was still new, I did get the Synergy Drag Link and Mopar reimbursed me for the part and install (I believe back in pre-inflation days it was about $350 parts and labor) - it still shows 'open' however since they told me the fix was welding, which I was not doing

The Synergy unit is fine, it has not aged well compared to my Thuren components (and I have no salt exposure) but it functions well - someday I may swap it out for the updated Mopar unit (I believe 5th gen?) or another aftermarket if one is available
