Picked up one of these intakes for my '13 ram off a member on here and got around to installing it today.

The system seems very wobbly and i noticed that the flap/scoop covers up the top of the radiator. Wont this risk causing over heating?

The scoop concept seems poorly engineered, cant see this kit flowing air much better than a closed unit. I mean its just a plastic flap that hangs in a empty space after all.

I figured after all the rave reviews this intake gets on here it would be a better quality kit than this? Hopefully someone can chime in on all this.

The lower "wing" is installed backwards. The notched corner should be on the passenger side of the motor with the textured finish facing forward. As for cooling, there is plenty of the radiator exposed, so there is no issue there. As air comes through your front grille, it builds a pressure bubble that forces air up and into the filter tray. With the tray sealed off to the hood, that air has nowhere to go but straight down your throttle body.

Did I install mine correctly, or am I supposed to leave the front cover piece off that sits on top of the radiator? Meaning the piece that has the plastic holders that get pried out

I originally had that plastic cover on as well, but it looked like it restricted alot of flow. Maybe someone else will chime in with a definite answer

You can leave the cover off if you like, but if you decide it looks better with it on as I do you need to trim some of the top edge off so you are not restricting or redirecting any of the air flow. Use some blue painters tape to mark off the piece you want to trim and then just cut slowly with a new razor knife. If you cut it right I think it really helps channel the airflow into the filter.

I left a little more of a lip on mine. It really seems to channel the air right into the Vararam.

I think your expectations going into this were unrealistic.
It's just a bolt on air filter setup.

Wouldn't say they were to high, just this isn't the best fitting set up I've seen. Had many trucks and SUVs before this and every other kit had a more secure fit.

I understand what you're saying about the wobbling, but I think with it pressed against the hood you have nothing to worry about.

on the move..

This......the pressure of the hood will also press it down so the front scoop is touching the top of the radiator all the way across. With all those points of contact it has to be rock solid once the hood is closed.
