I am looking at getting one and don't want to jack this thread but with the paint ready option did ya'll spray paint them? I found the match for my truck and wanted to paint the cover piece the same and wanted to know if that will be good enough. I got a can of primer/color/clear and didn't know if I needed to light sand it before the primer or what steps did you take. Thanks in advance and they do look nice and I really like the look of these intakes.

Yes Sir, Not saying what I did is right but I ordered the black wrinkle finished one, (you may decide to get the smooth finished one) and decided when I got it I wanted it the same color as my truck so I cleaned it well with purple power cleaner and wiped it down with paint thinner (be careful and test a spot inside first because it acted like it softened the plastic if you saturate the cloth, so test first) otherwise after I cleaned it I sprayed it with an aerosol plastic paint, 3 coats, no primer or clear coat. I don't know about longevity yet since it's only been 2 weeks but I'm very happy with it so far. Hope that helps you some.

Good points. I am going with the smooth one and all the paint came from the same place.

Thanks, I had to get them off of ebay. They are like the wing nuts that came with the big round chrome air cleaner we use to get back in the day.
