On their web site they advertised the vararam like this :

Gains of 30HP and 30+FTlbs of Torque with NO tuning.

1-2 mpg gain

Is it true ? Vs the stock air intake.

thank you !

yes and no. they should have put upto 30hp and upto 30ft lbs torque. another thing about the gain in mpg depends on your driving conditions. but on the other hand everyone who has a vararam says they feel the difference in performance.

Sitting still on a dyno, you should see roughly 15hp from the Vararam. Going 70mph on the highway with air being forced into the motor is where that 30hp claim comes from. As for mileage, we would all like to see a 1-2mpg increase from an intake alone, but the truth is that you may see .5-1mpg increase...maybe. I would buy this for performance and just take any mileage gains as icing on the cake.

Yet another part I can't wait to get installed on my truck when the weather breaks. Have to do the body lift first.

I was sold just looking at the design over other CAI. It reminds me of the ram intake on the late 90's Trans Ams. Those things had some power. When you think about cold air induction, what better place to get it than from the grille? I've seen a lot of "CAI" that don't even isolate the intake from the engine bay, meaning they're just going to suck in the hot air that lives under the hood.

As mentioned above, the more the truck is moving forward, the more gains you'll see.

Well said. I havent seen any increase, even after all my mods. Ive really tried to drive with care and squeeze out as much MPG as i can. MAYBE increase .5-1mpg. cant seem to get anymore.

as far as warranty, i havent had any trouble with the dealer. Ive had my Vararam since it had about 4k miles and have gone for recall/updates and they havent mentioned it. But i doubt theyll say anything about a CAI.

And for the dealer, can it be a warranty issue ?

Anything you do to your truck that the dealership or RAM thinks caused the issue you're trying to warranty is a warranty issue.... Find a mod friendly dealership to have your truck warrantied at if you need to.

I spoke to Vararam today about the 6.4, but it is going to be tough with the throttle body now facing the passenger fender. There is no way to revise the current Air Grabber kit to work on the 6.4, so they would have to redesign a completely new kit.
