After solving my issue with saving my stock tune and programming the vehicle with the 93 oct tune. I have to say it did nothing to the seat of pants dyno at all. Very Let down. I do plan to still get a hemi fever tune next pay, REALLY hoping ill notice SOME type of gain or change. Seems like the truck is worse then it was honestly. Kinda confused about it. Wasn't expecting much in first place but hell this is pathetic....

I know how you feel. The DS canned tunes SUCK! I felt the same way when I first installed mine 3 weeks ago. It is all about the HF tune!!!
IMO, anyone who buys the DS for the canned tunes, and the tuner itself will be disappointed...
For canned tunes and a quality tuner, the BD is much better. Get your HF tune asap, it will put a big smile on your face!

Sean did a SCT tune on my old 4.7 Dakota and it was out of this world. Im hoping this will be the case with his 5.7 tune as well. This can tune crap sucks.

Just curious if you ran your tank near empty if you were running anything besides 93 octane before you ran the tune? I guess it's bad if you run a 93 tune with a lower octane fuel in the tank, including any mix of octane you might get by filling up with a 1/4 tank of gas left in there.

Also, your truck could be reducing timing to reduce knock that you may be getting. The canned tunes have been known to cause knock because they're a blanket tune and aren't dialed in like Seans will be. You're not alone by any means feeling this way.

I would set up the gages on the tuner and monitor ST/LT knock.

on the move..

I think Sean should start selling his own tuner. Its pretty ridiculous to pay or $700 to a simple tune.

When I dumped my BullyDog tuner 3 years ago, (for a Diablo Trinity)
My 10' Hemi Ram jumped from a 14.3 second truck to a 13.8 quarter mile.
(I also had a Superchips Cortex, for about a week...sold that one too)

...only other mods at the time were intake, catback, 180º T-stat and DR's.

I used 94 octane fuel, 93 canned tune on my Trinity
maxed out my shift points, speed limiter and throttle booster, traction control 100% disabled.
Diablo was the only tuner that would let me shift over 6300 rpm for better shift recovery (others were limited to 6100)

Never had a custom tune from anyone until I put the supercharger on last year.

I know what you mean I had mine at the track Friday nite and it ran the same times with and without the tune never made a different if it wasn't for the speed limiter being raised on the way home wouldn't have known it was tuned

Keep your head up. My truck stock ran a 9.7 in the 1/8th.
I now have a Vararam intake, 2800 stall converter and a DS with a 93octane hemifever tune (this isnt even his revised tune because I havnt had time to do a datalog) and I ran a 9.23.
The hemifever tune WILL make a difference.
I didnt feel much of a difference in acceleration until I got the custom tune, and it was the last mod I have added.

This is my thought…

For $700 I could take it to a place and have it personally tuned.

I've had one Diablo and like the OP…it was a joke. Had it for my 2004 GTO. The only good things were that 1.) I removed the 1-4 skip shift (if you don't know what this crap is…look up manual GM transmissions) and I bought it used for $150.

Other than that…what a waste of $$. The Diablo "tune" did jack squat…it idled a bit rougher...

I began reading on the Diablo/hemi fever combo and when I did the math…I came to the conclusion that there is no way I'm going to pay that for a non personal canned tune (yes…even the hemi fever is canned…it's just canned salmon vs canned tuna).

Either way…carry on...

I can not complain to much more as I received this tuner free from my work... I understand that the loaded tunes aren't really fine tuned and tweaked blah blah blah. Just expected more for what its hyped up to be such a great tuner. It is what it is, till the proper people tweak it for what we really should get out of it in the first place. my thoughts.

Well..much of the car industry is smoke and mirrors. Few mods (at least cheaper ones) will do what they claim. And thee is always an "*" at the end of claims.

NEW>>>CAI FOR RAM!!!!!! +35HP>>>+40TQ!!!!!* EXPLOSIVE POWAH!!!! ONLY $499!!!!

*= gains found on motor with previous aftermarket: headers, throttle body, intake manifold, hi flow cats, catback, dyno tune...

I haven't heard many good things about DS tuners (not counting the fake reviews on sites that sell them).
I bought mine strictly for the HF tune, that is some good scheit! I actually rather hate the tuner itself. I downloaded the tune and then put that ugly thing in the center console. :)
As far as dollars spent vs gains. Is it sensible to spend any amount money to increase the power on trucks that come stock with 395hp? No. It is about having fun, experimenting a little, tinkering around, an occasional run at a track, bragging rights, conversation starters, and even to pick up hot chicks!!! Lol!
Most of us are probably not doing the math and saying "I can get 18hp with this mod for $500 or I can get 13hp with the other mod for $400, which one should I get..."
We are saying "I want to get this mod, and this mod, and this mod, and this mod..." :)

The fact of the matter is Diablo is pretty much the only one that allows custom tuning for the Rams.. complain all you want.

Anyone doing a "Custom Tune" for your Ram would be using Diablo's CMR (Chip Master Revolution) software anyway, and you would still need a device to save your stock tune if you needed to go back to stock for warranty/service work.

unless you want to run back to your tuner everytime and get charged for each visit. :insane:

I LOVE my Trinity, not just for custom tuning but for changing tire sizes when I swap my drag radials on for a track day.
I also use it to max out my throttle sensitivity, disable traction control 100%, turn off MDS , adjust E-Fan settings for my 180º T-Stat.

and monitor several parameters like LT and ST Knock, trans temperature, coolant temperature, intake air temperature...etc.
(not to mention Data logging, clearing trouble codes, 0-60 testing)

Did I mention I went from a 14.3 second truck to a 13.8?
...on just a canned tune with raised shift points.

That's a mod worth every penny to me
Maybe they were just "That Much" better for pre 2012 Hemi Rams ?
(Before Dodge's encrypted PCM lockdown)

The only reason I want a DS with a HF tune is because the shift points suck on this truck, it finds gears like crap. I have 3.55s and when I hit a hill I have to floor it to get the torque converter and PCM out of low and slow fule sipping mode.. for a HEMI its not very responsive.. im hoping a tune will fix that..

It will fix that, or at least dramatically improve it! :)
