2019 RAM 6.4L, when it goes into ECO mode I have a vibration similar to running over rumble strips. Took it into one dealer near me about a year ago and they "re-calibrated the anti-vibration system" and it made a big improvement, until now. The same issue is happening again.
Took it back to the same dealer and they performed the same "fix" but this time it was just a waste of money, did not make any difference at all, maybe even worse. Since I live between two dealers I took it to the other dealer. They tried the re-calibration to no avail.
The Crysler/Stellantis proving grounds is also close to me and was at a birthday party that one of the mechanics for the proving grounds happened to be at too. Asked him about my issue and he did agree that re-calibrating the system is the correct first step, but also mentioned there are two devices near the engine that create a counter vibration (like superheterodyning in a radio) to the engines vibration when the cylinders are turned off and these could and do go bad. Dealer wants to change them out and said they have no way to test if they are actually bad? Said okay, how much...............$1500. Asked them to disable ECO mode, but of course that is not possible.
Yes, I know that I can manually disable ECO mode by, either select tow/haul mode or with gear limit and that is fine. Since I tow a fifth wheel a lot it is is in tow/haul mode most of the time. My concern is if I want to sell this truck, pretty sure this vibration will be a deal killer.
Have read about tuning out the MDS and possible issues it might cause, and whether I agree or not about if it will damage the engine, not willing to spend $1500 that might or might not fix the vibration, so am looking for a tuner that will work with this engine.
The Diablo will work on the this year, but only shows 5.7L engine.
Anyone have a recommendation or another solution?
Cheers!
