When i bought my 19 a few months ago in the process of waiting to get it I was looking at different kinds of housing for my headlights. What kind at the moment didn't matter but when i picked the truck up my sales rep said when i told him what i wanted to do in changing them out he said it would void the factory warranty. I then said well can i get you guy to do it and that way it keep if being done by an authorized dealer... He said he can look into it but highly doubt it. I then said well what if i buy factory and get them installed, he then said ya you could do that but it's going to be expensive.. Main reason i'n asking is i have the extended 7 year 140km and at some point they are going to be changed out but for right now i'll just put LED light in right now buy if that the case i don't wanna void the warranty 3 months in... If i get them put in and not from a certified teck will the warranty be void?

In order to void a warranty (in the US anyway) it would have to be proven that the part caused the failure, and only that part/system would be void. Basically, if you installed headlights, then threw a rod, the engine would still be covered. Similarly, if you put in an aftermarket cam and your headlights fried, they would still be covered as well.

If you swap the headlights then have a failure in the electrical system, they could probably make a case not to cover it.

If you do swap in the headlights, then have an engine issue, just put the OEM units back in before taking it in for warranty work. It takes about 20 minutes tops, start to finish, to swap both headlight assemblies.

You are being fed a line of ********. If you replaced your headlights with an aftermarket light housing, obviously they would not be covered under warranty. If those lights for some reason caused another issue, obviously that issue would not be covered under warranty. Aside from that your warranty would remain intact. There are some nice OEM style lights out there that aren't too expensive. My Laramie came with projector lights. They were chrome inside. I bought a set of TYC OEM crash replacement on eBay with black insides. They fit and installed exactly like the original and have a lifetime warranty. I've gone through 2 sets and am on my 3rd due to condensation issues but this 3rd set has proven very good for a couple years now. The new lights actually have better cutoff than the OEM. I did an HID conversion from the retrofit source and couldn't be happier. 3da07cd35110a8507aa62136ad0e1e89.jpg

Your salesman is full of ****, too. The only warranty that would probably be null and void right away if you decided to replace your headlights would be your headlights because if something were to happen to those new ones, Mopar or ram is not going to pay to replace your headlights that you bought aftermarket.

The only other part of your warranty that could be in question, would be if you replace those headlights and you made a short somewhere that lead to your ECM being transformed into crispy critter then yeah, they could use your headlights to void the warranty on that....... but they’d have to prove it first.

Yeah the salesman is an idiot. Kind of interesting they won't install them. My dealer has a full on customs shop attached to the dealer where they do basically any mod you want.

So does mine. Everything from lugnuts to roof top tents. It's a full blown customs and offroad 4x4 shop. They can even be financed in with the truck.

Today most good headlights have a plug and play ,meaning you don't cut any wires on the Ram truck. That is what they look for when you bring your truck in,My dealer had a hard on because of some wires ran for a dash cam system front and rear. I told him its independent of the trucks wiring system, connected directly to the trucks battery, then he didn't know what to come back with and told me it,s OK.

I read my extended warranty and one of the few things not covered was, "hedlights , lenses, bulbs" , I know your talking about the factory warranty. Just wanted to share the weird stuff.

Not sure they could claim you voided your warranty.... But they could make your life miserable if you had any issues. Our laws up north are a little different than our friends to the south so I would call FCA Canada to get more details or from the extended insurance provider.

Just throw your stock headlights on a shelf for a bit. If the new lights cause electrical issues you can swap them back. Who’s gonna know?

Once you’re confident the new lights are good to go you can sell the old ones and make a few bucks.

The extended warranties are treated differently than factory warranties in that they aren’t covered by the Magnusson-Moss act and the dealer does not have to prove the aftermarket part caused the issue. They can cancel the entire maxcare warranty just for noticing you have gone outside the terms of it.

The only thing on the new Ram 19 that is going to be voided is the electrical system on the vehicle. that's all. Also you say they cant they can.

Where does it say they can cancel your entire max care warranty just because you changed something?

They can’t just outright void the whole damn electrical wiring warranty. They can’t even void out part of it without proving those lights were the problem in the first place.
