I want to replace the front door speakers with a good set of components. 2014 with the alpine system. I'm going to replace the factory sub with a JL 10 inch sub and a 250watt JL amp. I looked at focal but they are too much $$. How is Memphis audio? Thanks

From a liceneced dealer for Memphis you will pay almost as much as the focal's, but that has been my experience with them. What is your budget cause there are guys here that will throw a grand at good set of comps and others that would spend no more than 100 bucks. There are good choices in both sides but I would go listen to some before putting any money down. The alpine system is going to be fun it has weird xover points so be prepared to spend some cash to make it sound right.

No point IMO in throwing loads of money into speakers unless you go all the way with deadening, amping, big 3, ect.

Though they're not components, Alpine SPR-69's are a perfect 6X9 replacement for the front doors. They are the exact same size as the stockers so they fit with no problems. For about $100 a pair they are a great sounding inexpensive replacement!

Oddly enough, I just listened to a set of Memphis components in a Ram the other day. He had the 6.5" midbass speaker in the doors, and the tweeter mounted in the dash firing up.
I listened to some heavy metal for a few minutes...my impressions:
They were loud
They did not fall apart at high volume...kept their composure really well
the midbass was not strong at all...pretty thin sounding
the tweeter was a bit harsh at higher volumes (running passive xovers)
they seemed really efficient at lower power levels (amped off an Alpine but do not know the specifics)
not a bad speaker choice especially if you are looking to get loud...but that's about it

If you have the Alpine system, it's not worth it to add expensive components UNLESS you also add a DSP or LOC with input summing and aftermarket amp. With OE Alpine, there is no full-range signal present. In order to obtain a full-range signal to your aftermarket speakers, you'll need a DSP or LOC with input summing (LC6i at minimum). You'll also need a lot of patience. The front door speakers only have low-mid range. The rear door speakers only have mid-high range frequencies -- with treble boosted. Believe me, I tried using the cheap/easy route, and tried many combinations. Nothing made a significant improvement until I added the LC6i. If $ were no object, DSP would be ideal.

Damn... I was looking at taking some of my audio out of my old tahoe but was worried about issues since I have the alpine system in my Laramie. Plus lack of space for my 12" Fi Q sub which was made for a ported box...
