85K miles - OEM water pump failed. No Mopar shops around me had one for replacement, "nationwide back order". Went aftermarket.
104K miles - Aftermarket water pump failed. No Mopar shops around me had one for replacement, was told still on back order with MANY units going towards warranty repairs when they do come available. Nobody had one online either (all showing back ordered).
Installed an Asin unit today. Pretty crappy to be on a 3rd water pump at 104K.

If you went with a new NAPA, O'Reilly, or Autozone aftermarket pump it should have a lifetime warranty on it. If so, take it back to them and get a replacement. If RockAuto, it may or not be lifetime, but they have warranty processes as well. Depending on the brand, it may cost you nothing there as well. Amazon you'd be SOL.

Back when I had my 11 ram I used an autozone water pump because I needed one rather quickly on a Sunday afternoon and had no problems with it. Drove the truck for another 30k miles before I traded it in on my 21 BTS

The unit I bought the first time has a lifetime warranty but I chose to not use it. I don't want to do this job again in another 20K miles. I opted to by a different brand hoping to have better longevity.

Appears so. Interesting that they don't show it Back Ordered like all the other vendors/dealers. My local Mopar dealer says they have 42 on back order for their facility.

They don't like to order them from other dealers, so "back order" doesn't actually mean there are none available. It just means none in the warehouse they use. I learned that with my transmission warranty ordeal.

The parts store lifetime warranty means they'll probably warranty it 1 time, after that they likely won't. Unless you're a really good customer and buy a lot from them, then they often make a judgement call and may well warranty it again.

I've gotten 3x starters from Autozone on a particular vehicle warranted each time. But I'd rather had 'good ones' which lasted ....and never had to touch. But at least they stood by it.

I feel like quality control and pride in workmanship are now things that exist only in history books (who reads books anyway? lol). The "used to be a good brand" stories way out number the "IS a good brand" stories. Everything is disposable and built with price competition as the number one component. I've been through several new vehicles in the past 5 years. Each one has had lots of awful early failures (one vehicle w/ major transmission issue at 3k miles, fuel pump on another at 5k miles, 2 vehicles of the same flavor back to back with rear main oil leaks under 400 miles on the odometer. Trim blowing off, windshield leak, collision avoidance tech fail at under 6k miles on another.). I won't point fingers at manufacturer names as they all seem to be building really expensive garbage. $50k+ vehicles that aren't worth a damn. Lots of poor quality being pushed out in new vehicles and the parts sector.

I replaced my water pump with a "new" (not rebuilt or re-manufactured) Murray brand pump from O'Reilly's. Replaced it in August of 2023 and have put 23,000 miles on it so far. Lifetime warranty and have no issues with it at all.

As for the warranty, I used O'reillys store brand fuel pumps in my old Ram, replaced it 3 times under warranty and never had a problem getting it replaced. The last time I replaced it, the pump was still good, but I had to replace my fuel tank (due to getting it punctured on the freeway by a piece of pipe that got kicked up by another car) and they just gave me a new one. Some stores are better than others on warranty replacements.

Try a Flow Kooler water pump. Expensive but I never had any problems with them. Make sure your cooling system is clean.

Just saw a Carquest water pump for a 5.7. Chrome finish, included new bolts, pulley, and thermostat. Box says made from all new components and a lifetime warranty.

Swap to an electric fan and you'll likely have no water pump issues, or it'll last a lot longer. That clutch fan is heavy, and it puts a lot of stress on the bearings and seals at the front of the pump.

Mine went out at 65k miles, ~8 years old. Was pretty miffed as well. Dealer did it under warranty. I highly doubt the drained the entire system. Does anyone know how much coolant comes out with just a water pump replacement? I can probably delay my coolant flush but not sure for how long.

My first replacement was a lifetime warranty unit from Advance. Only getting +/- 20k miles out of it before it leaked was enough for me to not deal with trying another one under warranty.

I can't speak to the 5.7, but on my 3.6 I drain about a gallon and a half off during the process. Having gone through two water pumps and a failed thermostat replacement, I feel like I've replaced all my coolant across those activities. That's my "long road to a coolant system flush" approach, lol.
