When it hasn't been started in many hrs (like overnight), it doesn't start as strong as I think it should, only lately. Sounds like its going to stall. Only has about 5000 miles. Anyone come across this?

Prob can't prove it at the dealer cause it will be warmed up by then, and I wouldn't want to go there anyway. Could it be a weak battery?

There is another thread about this issue. There are plenty of folks having the same issue. I only have 2500 miles on mine and get the same exact thing. First start of the day is horrible and then after that it has no issues...

I noticed that slightly myself. I wonder if fuel pressure is just a little low in the morning. Although the pump should pressurize the line before the starter starts.

I would think/try battery first...
Next time its a cold start turn the key on but dont start and see where your volt guage is reading...
If its really low something might be draining on your battery over night or you have a weak battery.

I posted this in another thread

The Chrysler/Ram 5.7 is just known to have cold start "complaints". I say complaints instead of issues as it just seems to be an annoyance instead of an actual problem.

A few things to try (I eliminated it on my 5.7 Challenger)

Check the torque on your intake manifold. 100% of the cases I have seen reported show that they are loose from the factory, or they just back out over time/heat cycles. For me this also improved throttle response.

Run a good fuel cleaner. Techron concentrate is a favorite but my choice is Redline SI1 as it has more PEA in it (the main ingredient) than the Techron plus a supposed UCL.

If still on factory installed plugs, change them. This may seem a little drastic but if your really want to fix the issue then its worth it. Every instance I have seen of someone reporting the gaps on the factory installed plugs show that they are very inconsistent. I pulled mine at 20k and some were very under gapped while others were very over gapped. I gapped the new plugs myself and installed, it helped with the cold start as well as reduced my knock retard.

My car had less than 20k miles when I started getting cold start and idle issues. The combination of the above completely eliminated the issues.

Thanks for all the info. When I had my oil changed I was going to ask them (Mr Tire, not the dealer) to check everything from starter/ battery/ alt...etc.

Its hot now but wonder how these cold starts will deal in the winter.

If it only has 5k miles on it, why not take it to the dealer. I would never waste my time working on something under warranty.

Yeah, mine does this too in the morning. I seems to had gotten worse for some reason in the last month or two. It's annoying. I just wish it would finish breaking so I can make the dealer fix it.

I know but I'm trying not to waste 4 or 5 hrs at the dealer for them to tell me there's nothing wrong with it but I fear I may have too. Also hoping they will check it because I've been going there for 12yrs and 3 vehicles. Maybe they throw me a bone.
