I plan on buying mud flaps in the next few weeks to combat the slush and crap. When I went to buy I've discovered that they sell flaps for both with and without flares.

I have been debating flares but its more of a thing of the potential future. Has anyone seen these and how different are they? How bad would the fit be if I bought the set made for flares?

I bought the weathertech mudflaps for my 2013 ram with the intention of putting flares on at a later time, they fit fine the only difference is instead of conforming to the fender edge there is a gap between where the fender flare would meet the mudflaps if you had flares on the truck. Because of that gap I didn't have to take off the plastic pieces off the bottom of the fender openings front and back.

Thanks seems like a no lose to go with the flaps made for flares.

Do the flaps come with tape for the paint? If not what type should be put on prior to install?

I've seen several folks talk about putting tape between the flap and the truck. What type of tape are using? I plan on installing my flaps tomorrow.

I removed my running boards, and wanted to keep the junk off the sides of the truck. I just ordered my set for flares last week, but was worried they will look out of place and bulky.

I am hoping they work well. :)

Do you plan on putting any tape or anything on during the install to protect the paint?

They will be going over my flares which are bed liner coated. It should be fine. I will post some pictures when I install them.
